"Mega Man Drain Cleaning was REALLY great! Needed a camera run in the sewer line to check for possible breaks underneath the basement floor. Yes, you can pour water down the toilet to help it flush. For each flush, you’ll need 1 to 2 gallons of water for newer toilets or 3 to 5 gallons of water for older toilets. Rather than dumping the entire bucket in all at once, pour the water in slowly for the best results. If you’re pouring water down the toilet to help it flush after a clog, only use 1 gallon of hot water.

Start by unscrewing the overflow valve, which is located on the wall of your tub between the floor drain and the tub spout. Gently insert a plumbing snake down into the pipe, move it back and forth, and pull it out. Remove any hair, debris, and soap scum that comes out with it. Repeat the process until the snake comes out clean, and then reinstall the cap on your overflow valve.

If you have a sink stopper, it can feel more challenging to clean the drain without removing it, but here are a few simple steps:

  • Pour ½ cup baking soda into the drain using a funnel

  • Pour 1 ½ cups vinegar into the drain

  • Close the sink stopper for 15–20 minutes

  • Open the drain

  • Pour 2 cups of boiling water down the drain (be cautious as boiling water can damage some types of pipes)
