In fact, the quote we signed was 8,800 but when Aaron saw we had sand, not clay, credited us $400. Who does that? I cannot understand the F reviews - it seems to be from those who didn't get an appointment? He is very busy and unlike many contractors, won't take on work if he can't schedule you in. I guess we got lucky. We would give Aaron an A++ if I could. He & his family run business were simply a joy to work with. "},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/mi/waterford/aaron%27s-excavating-inc-reviews-392675.htm"},"position":3},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Rooter MD Plumbing and Heating","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"MI","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Madhan R."},"reviewBody":"RooterMD replaced the main sewer (about 30 feet) line for our house from soggy orangeburg pipe to PVC schedule 40. They have good equipment and intentions, but some issues happened during our experience with them. The first visit to inspect the line went well, and the technician who came out was very thorough and professional. They identified a problem with our main sewer line and recommended to replace it. The 50 year old sewer connection was made out of Orangeburg pipe - asphalt impregnated cardboard and was blistered, bulging inward. Their camera system showed that the pipe instead of being round was actually like a U-section. The RooterMD estimator then came out and gave us an quote (inclusive of permits, etc) which seemed reasonable, and proposed a $1500 discount if they did not have to go under the sidewalk. They mentioned that this was a routine, job, and they would start at 9 and be completely done by 7 pm. We scheduled the work for the following week after receiving assurances that they routinely work year-around. On the day they were scheduled to work, it was a cold 8 am morning at 25F. Unlike the first crew, the lead plumber was not as professional and courteous. There was snow on the ground, and the excavator and plumber were not prepped as to where to dig and how deep to go to expect the main drain line, even though Miss Dig had been called and the utility locations marked. After a late start with an hour long delay waiting for a tree trimmer, the excavator finally started digging. and digging. He finally reached the pipe by 4 pm. Finished uncovering the entire line by 7 and, plumber relaid the pipe by 8, and finally finished the work by 10 pm. The trouble started when the plumber presented us with a $1000 bill over and above the estimate at 10 pm. It seemed unreasonable and we resisted, but we were not in a position to negotiate at that time as we were putting our children to bed and did not want to cause a scene. Considering the difficulty of working in cold weather and goodwill, we were willing to pay over the estimate considering the 2 hours of extra digging, but were not prepared for such a steep overcharge for no reason. The plumber mentioned he had to charge this amount, and to discuss with the office the next day. As it was already past 10 pm, we let him charge our card with that assurance. When we called the office next day, they mentioned that there were large 6ft x 2 ft concrete slabs in the way, leading to a difficult excavation and disposal fees. Now I was present there the whole day, and there were only a couple of small 2x2ft chunks of concrete to excavate. There were some boulders and construction debris but nothing that had to be hauled away from the site for disposal, and would warrant the $1000 over charge. After further calling and negotiating with them the following day, we were promised that RooterMD would remove $500 from the overcharge and refund it back to the card. On the plus side, they did come back to check on the work the following day and see if the drain was working satisfactorily. Additionally, due to dirt settling in the hole, the sump discharge line has shifted since they did the work. Now the sump drain needs to be reconnected. They promised to come back to do it, and followed through after allowing a couple of months for the ground to settle. So, our lessons learned 1) There seemed to be some disconnect between the office and the on-site crew, considering lack of clear understanding of utility location, depth and water shutoff. Make sure the plumber/excavator doing the work are clear as to where and how far to dig.. They have excellent tools to locate the sewer line, and MissDig can provide clear instruction as to the location of utilities. hope for no snow after MissDig marks or take pictures of the marked locations with references so that you can still find the locations after snow. I also ended up paying for after hours water shutoff as the crew was worried about hitting the water supply line. 2) If possible, schedule this during the warmer months where there is enough light to see where they are putting the excavated dirt/debris. Since it started to snow ( around an inch accumulation) when they were filling the hole, they could not see where they had placed the dirt and could not put it all back. Now our front yard has debris scattered all around, and I had to dig out my flower beds from under mounds of dirt. 3) Stick to the quoted amount on the day of service, and request a bill if there is any additional charge. He is more expensive than most inspectors, but easily saved me thousands by providing plenty of ammunition to reduce the offer on the home to compensate for needed repairs, plus providing the peace of mind that the home was well inspected. Inspection was a full 6 hours for a 2300SF home, and could have been done about an hour less, but Patrick educates you as he notices things. So if you already feel educated, you may find it too long, but if you want or need the information, he will provide it. He also gave excellent instructions in the report regarding items such as how to switch over from heating to cooling with the furnace and humidifier. Worth every penny. After 35 years at this house I wanted the sewer inspected. They arrived on time. One experienced plumber and one assistant. Accessed the sewer access in the basement. Their sewer line camera did not work, AC power problem. I helped them fix their video inspection system. They tried video inspection from the basement access but a trap in the sewer prohibited that. So they tried the video inspection from the lawn access to the house and the sewer elbow prevented that. Then they tried the lawn access to the street and that worked. Ended up with a major repair of sewer line. They completed the job in 1 day and left everything very neat for having to dig up the yard. The service was quick especially during the holiday season.

Perfectly. All employees were competent, friendly, clean and interested in doing a good job. The faucets and drains have never worked better. And no doubt the sewer line will be better than the nearly collapsed Orangeburg that was replaced.

Everything went great. We had no working sewer lines which was an obvious problem. One of the larger companies wanted over 15K for the same pipe bursting work. Another quoted 12K to excavate. We just didn't want to deal with digging up the landscaping. In fact, the quote we signed was 8,800...

FAQs for sewer line repair projects in Delhi, MI
The average cost to snake your main sewer line is around $250 for a simple snake. Most sewer line specialists charge between $45 and $200 per hour for main sewer line snaking, so the time involved plays a major role. The price you’ll pay will depend on the severity of the clog, the item causing the backup, how long it takes to remove the item, and more. A more severe issue that requires unclogging a main sewer line will cost $3,100 on average.
Yes, most states require plumbers to be licensed, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed plumber could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
You should not attempt to snake your sewer yourself. Accessing and snaking your sewer requires heavy-duty equipment, and while renting is possible, misusing it can damage your sewer main and leave you with very expensive repair costs, not to mention potential environmental issues and severe water damage. Accessing your sewer also exposes you to hazardous sewer gasses, and failing to seal the sewer properly after work can be very dangerous. It’s always best to hire a professional sewer cleaner near you to handle this type of work.
The average cost to unclog a drain is around $200, with prices ranging between $110 and $800, depending on the type of drain and the extent of the clog. Hiring a professional to snake the toilet or sink will usually cost between $110 and $275, a bathtub or shower typically costs around $225, and a main line clog can cost between $100 and $800 based on the severity of the clog and how far beyond the access point the clog sits. Since the labor involved varies, most plumbers will charge an hourly rate for drain cleaning.
The average cost to hire a plumber is around $100 an hour but can vary between $45 and $200 an hour depending on the plumber’s experience and the repair that you need. It’s also important to note that these prices can go up on holidays, and emergency plumber rates average $150 per hour, in addition to a flat-rate trip fee of $100 to $350.
