"Very professional. Wonderful to work with. We hired them to put an addition on our home. They did everything very well : foundation, building the rooms, putting in insulation, drywall, painting, flooring, windows, roofing, plumbing, framing doors and windows, ductwork. They even built raised flower bed structures to go around the outside of the new addition. They are a very talented and skilled company."

Small jobs welcome

"We could not be happier with this company. They did a remarkable job completing our large three car garage for us. Their tape and mudding skills were unbeatable. Two younger gentlemen started this company and they did an above average job for sure. We are keeping their number on hand for any future jobs we need and would not hesitate to refer them to anyone who asks. I highly recommend them for any project! Do not be afraid of how young they are… they know what they are doing for sure. I would give them more stars if I could!"

"I hired A&J Contractor Services after reviewing multiple options for my parents’ desired deck. The ranch-style house now has a rear deck that spans over the bottom three bedrooms of the house itself. Angela was not only very pleasant to talk to, but also incredibly professional and courteous. The way she handled the workload and finishing the objective well within the allotted time was superb. The work was clean, professionally done, and the property of my parents was treated with the utmost respect the entire time they were on the premises. The pricing was incredibly competitive (best in the area in my personal opinion now seeing the end-goal come to fruition) and most importantly, my parents love their new space on the deck and below. Angela and her company have made a lasting impression on my family and I, and highly recommend them to anyone needing anything done around the house. 5 stars, and would give more if possible. Thank you!!"

Hello my name is Kylie, I have been in the drywall and painting fields for over 20 years. I am willing to travel over an hour from the Midland, Bay City, and Saginaw area for jobs. I do new construction and remodeling, full houses, additions, patch and repair. I am proficient in all aspects of drywall hanging and finishing as well as many different textures as well as painting. I am very easy to get along with and really listen to what the needs of the job are so making a plan that will be satisfying to the home owner.

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Drywall can be toxic to the environment and to humans in some cases. As drywall breaks down in a landfill and comes in contact with other organic chemicals, it can create hydrogen sulfide gas or leach into the groundwater. Additionally, the CDC recommends methods for controlling the inhalation of drywall dust when handled. While the common ingredients of drywall—gypsum, silica, and mica—are naturally occurring, they can cause irritation in some humans.

Drywall mudding can be done in one day if the project is small and the desired effect isn’t too complex. If you need multiple layers of mud, one day may not be realistic. But a single room that requires little more than joint compound on the seams and screws can be done in a day or two.

There are several things you should not do when installing drywall. Common mistakes include: adding too many screws, over-sanding, not adding backing support, and installing drywall unevenly. You also should avoid screwing into the same place twice, installing Sheetrock with tapered edges on the outside, and making too many joints.

When choosing materials for finishing basement walls, consider factors such as moisture resistance, durability, and fire resistance. Opt for materials specifically designed for basement environments, like moisture-resistant drywall or cement board. Insulation with vapor barriers can help regulate temperature and prevent condensation. Consider using mold-resistant paints or coatings.

Research and consult with experts to select materials that are suitable for your specific basement conditions and intended use. Prioritize quality and compatibility to achieve long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing results.

When you are learning how to tape and mud drywall, waiting for things to dry requires a lot of patience. So how long does drywall mud take to dry? On average, it takes about 24 hours. However, it depends on things like the thickness of the mud, as well as the room’s temperature, humidity, and ventilation. Using thin layers of mud in a warm, low-humidity room with good airflow reduces average drying time. You also could speed up drying time by making use of hot drywall mud, which consists of a powder that you mix with water, instead of using pre-mixed mud.
