The landscaping on the hill was never done and the steps were installed but very poor craftmanship as they are falling off. Then we became part of his ploy to rid himself of any and all debt. Basically took our money and took off."

Now using long screws and a drill, anchor the broomstick to the wall outside the door frame. Remember that you won't be able to open the door afterward.
