"First let me be fair to the installer Ken who came on time Saturday at 8 am and worked diligently for 8 hours that day.  He understood what I wanted and for what he worked on he got it done right eventually.
That's the good, the bad deals more with the professionalism of the job.  The owner, Kevin, promised a lot, including peace of mind, and under-delivered.   He was not easily contacted; emailed questions often went unanswered.  When a response came it usually began with: "Did I respond to this?" as if he had seen the email earlier but decided to not respond then.  Worse, he acts like he doesn't know how email works, and that you can check your sent emails to see.  I find that hard to believe.
Next, the estimate and job itself has 3 resounding issues:
1.) The estimate for the job was one day (floor and door install), 8 hours.  All that got done in one day was the floor minus any molding and no door install.  250 sq feet of laminate should not take 8 hours to install by a professional.  It was clear Ken had not worked with this laminate before but it wasn't that difficult.  The job went slow and at $100 an hour I expected more efficiency.  I ended up spending the entire day helping and did 150 sq ft of the install myself to get the flooring down!  At the end of the day we didn't even discuss the door install.
2.) Ken brought sub-par tools to the job and it significantly ate into the time.  An old table saw and 10" compound mitre saw were used.  Both items were of far less quality than my own tools which I was shocked to see given that this is their job.  Anyone who has cut laminate flooring knows a sliding compound mitre saw can cut a board width-wise in a single cut.  Instead, every board took two cuts which adds up.  Worse, the blades on both machines were very dull and that slowed the cuts.
3.) Prior to install there was some flooring to remove for prep but Kevin asked me to leave it so Ken had a guide to start with.  This proved costly to me again.  Ken gained very little from seeing this and it took us 2 hours to clean up and prep the floor.   I could have done this step myself beforehand and saved $200 right there.
I did inform Kevin of these issues post the install and long before writing this to let him know.  I felt it would be fair given the estimate of 8 hours and these issues he'd finish up the job for free.  The results were far from that.  After several days of waiting for Kevin to discuss with Ken (and my floor and door install still not complete) I got back excuses.  Kevin claimed that Ken's blades were new when he arrived and made dull b/c of the type of floor they were cutting, that he didn't know he had to floor a bathroom (which he didn't so that was a lie), and that the estimate wasn't fixed which would benefit me somehow.  Because I had to finish up some of the job, I did cut some planks with a buddy's saw with a slightly used blade which cut through the flooring like butter compared to Ken's blade(s)!  The flooring has a very thin aluminum tongue that Kevin claimed caused blade dulling, this is simply not true.  Alloc's website and installation guide is clear on this.  Last, if he is going to give fixed estimates and not live up to them he should at least come out and check out the site prior to giving an estimate.  Instead the first time I saw anyone was installation day.
Kevin ultimately did concede that I was due something given all this, but only offered one hour of complimentary install time, though at least four hours more were needed according to him.  Kevin and Ken never even found the door I needed (a particular 6 panel), nor made any effort to work with me to find something similar yet suitable to replace it.  In the end, my last couple emails went unanswered.  I was fed up with the communication and the twisting of facts so this is where the story ends with them.
In the end, when you pay someone to do a job like this, they need to walk in and own the job.  They should ask you what you want, all your concerns, and then ask you to step aside so they can get it done.  Instead, I had to monitor the job, explain how things work, and do half the work myself to even get remotely close to finishing on time.  The estimate wasn't honored and the time to make things right came and went.  I would not do business with this company again; I feel they really do try to take advantage of those who don't understand how things should work and how long it should take to do a job.

"Carlos runs a small business and has done a good job choosing his crew. It was a 3-day job to install 700 ft2 of cathedral ceiling drywall with complex angles and four skylights to box in. They also installed 200 ft of window moulding, all done very well. Carlos checked each day. His bid came in a little bit higher than another, but I was much more impressed with his detailed offering."

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

Calcium lumps in a pool are calcium deposits that form when a pool's water parameters are not in the normal range. They can float around on the surface of the pool water, making it look and feel dirty. The most common causes of calcium lumps in pools are calcium hardness above 1,000 ppm, alkalinity over 120, and a pH over 7.8. Keeping your pool’s calcium levels, alkalinity, and pH levels within the normal, safe ranges is the best way to prevent calcium lumps and other problems, including damage to the pool surface.

Yes, a pool with a heater will lose more water. The heater warms the water, which increases the rate of evaporation. To minimize water loss from evaporation, you can install a pool cover and keep the pool covered when it is not in use.

You can use a plunge pool any time of the year, including winter. Be sure to install a pool heater if you plan to take a dip in the plunge pool when temperatures are low to avoid risk of hypothermia. You will also want to add a sturdy pool cover to protect the pool from snow, sleet, and rain during the winter months.

Yes, swimming in a pool with high calcium hardness is considered safe as long as you have sufficient chlorine and pH levels to keep bacteria growth under control. The main issue with high calcium hardness is that it damages your pool through rust and corrosion. However, if your water is hard enough to corrode your pool, you might want to consider finding methods to make it safe for drinking at home.
