"This was absolutely the worst move I've ever had and would not recommend them to anyone. They completed about 3/4 of the job at the pick up site and 1/2 of the job at the drop off. I'm going to have to hire someone else to finish the job they just abandoned in my driveway. They refused to finish the job at the drop off site because they were running over time and had to go to another job, but they were 2 hours late to begin with zero explanation. They only communicated with me about being late after I repeatedly messaged them. They were condescending and spoke down to me when I asked a couple of questions. I was 10 minutes behind them at the drop off and they threatened to leave my stuff on the curb. My move was 4 days ago and so far I've found damage on 4 large items and I haven't even opened my boxes yet (one of which was smashed). They had no packing gear (blankets, tape, etc.) My 1 bedroom home couldn't fit on their 16 ft. truck because it was already half full of shredded blankets or something. I had to drive back to the pick up site separately to grab the stuff they weren't able to."

Long distance moves can be scary but they were professional and timely throughout keeping us updated the entire time. "Bottom Line Up Front: DO NOT HIRE unless you insist on an in-person consultation AND a receive "not to exceed" estimate on your contract. Even then, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. Otherwise, you will pay way more than you expect, and then the company will either offer an insulting settlement to try and make you go away or ignore you entirely. My experience was similar to the other 1-star reviews I read. Was offered a quote of $4100-$4300 after receiving a virtual estimate. After the final billing the total cost of the move came to just under $6500, about 50% more than what was quoted. True to the owner's MANY responses to complaints in other reviews, their quote is "non-binding". However, when I called the next day to simply ask about the charges, the rep we dealt with said she thought the costs were high and was looking into it. From her own words, she told me the cost shouldn't exceed the estimate by more than 10-15% and that she was working with the owner to "make it right". The rep and I spoke three times over a two-week period just to touch base and keep communication open. During one of those calls, she informed me they'd already decided to refund $706 in materials costs (which she later denied saying), so remaining settlement would be in addition to that. Then came the final settlement offer...$362 along with a letter I would have to sign promising to remove any negative social media posts. When I contacted the rep and asked if this was a mistake, I was told that was all she was able to get the owner to agree to. This was after the rep had spent the prior two weeks leading me to believe something different. FWIW - no basis for that $362 amount was given as far as I could tell, almost as if it was pulled out of the air. My counter to the settlement offer was the $362 they offered plus the $706 the rep had already led me to believe would be refunded, for a total of $1,068. Even if they'd agreed to that, my final costs would still have exceeded the original estimate by 25%. The owner - Eric Wilmot - replied to my counter with the following dismissal: "Michael: The settlement offer that was provided to you is non-negotiable. It is in conjunction with the contractual terms of the service. We are sorry you did not accept. All the best. Eric R. Wilmot | CMC, COIC "Moving & Storage Advocate"" I'm sorry I ever did business with this company. PLEASE do yourself a favor and look to a stronger brand (JK Moving, Atlas, etc.). To be fair - the crew worked hard and overall did a good job. However, HW's business end is VERY disingenuous when it comes to the sales and settlement process."
