"My overall experience was excellent! From the very beginning, the salesman, Austin, was absolutely amazing very knowledgeable, very pleasant and went way above and beyond to get things ready for my installation of a new heat pump system. The installation crew that came the following day was also absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend this company to anybody and will definitely contact them with any additional needs I may have. I’d like to thank each and every one of them for doing such an excellent, professional job."

We are a small family owned Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) company located in Sharpsburg, MD. The business was started in 1989 under the name of RW Harrell's Pump Service Inc. when Diane Harrell and Ronnie Harrell purchased a well pump and water system business from a gentleman that was retiring. Ronnie had worked in the HVAC field from the time he had graduated from high school so it was natural to add HVAC to the services that this new company would offer. Ronnie and Diane built the company by word of mouth and continue to grow the company in this manner. Additional DBA - Harrell's Services. Additional fax - 928-492-8004

"It was pricy, but it was good service. Well, that's hard to say because it's all expensive, as oppose to any other air conditioning company, it's about the same, just too much money in general."

"We would definitely recommend Good Shepard! He has done work for me in the past as well as recently doing a complete installation. They completed the job on time, had a friendly crew, and the work area was always left neat. They were knowledgeable and polite. Happy with unit installed."

"It didn't. Like another poster wrote, I also tried contacting him a few times and the last two times, no response. I ended up hiring another company. I did hire this gentleman about a year and a half ago and he and his colleague did great work. So, I was hoping to hire him again - no such luck this time!"

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Professional HVAC installation requires licensed expertise in several areas, including electrical- and plumbing-related work. An HVAC team must know how to safely handle regulated refrigerant chemicals and the gas, oil, or propane used in furnaces and boilers. A proper HVAC installation protects your home from energy loss, fires, and even carbon monoxide leaks.

Boilers are equipped with multiple safety features to ensure safe operation. These include pressure relief valves to prevent overpressure, temperature high-limit switches to avoid overheating, and flame failure safety devices in gas boilers to cut off the gas supply if the flame goes out unexpectedly. Low water cutoffs prevent operation with insufficient water levels, and pressure gauges help monitor pressure levels. Ventilation and flue systems prevent the buildup of harmful gasses. Boilers often feature error code systems for automatic shutdown during malfunctions and gas leak detection for safety. Regular maintenance is crucial to ensure these safety features function correctly.

There are several types of home radiators, and the most common are steam heat radiators, electric radiators, and dual-fuel radiators. Steam heat radiators are connected to a boiler. Electric radiators can operate without being connected to anything else—they just need an electrical outlet. If you have a dual-fuel radiator, you’ll see a valve at the bottom of the system with a wire coming out of it and going into a wall. These are often your towel radiators in the bathroom. The type of radiator you have will impact how you turn it on.

If you go to turn it counterclockwise and it won’t turn anymore, it’s open. Like most other valves, you should be able to turn a radiator valve counterclockwise (to the left) to open it and clockwise (right) to close it. To close a radiator valve, turn it clockwise until you meet some resistance and can’t turn anymore, but do so carefully to avoid breaking the valve.

Yes. Boilers need water to run without overheating, also known as dry firing. If you run it without a sufficient volume of water, either because of a burst pipe or a leak, you run the risk of damaging your machine or jeopardizing the safety of your home as a whole. When in doubt, shut off your boiler and repair any plumbing issues before turning it back on. Alternatively, consider installing a low-water cutoff (LWCO) before any issues arise. This gadget will protect your boiler by monitoring water levels and automatically shutting it off if it gets too low.
