It depends on the condition of the grass during the drought. If your grass completely died, it won’t turn green again after drought. However, if it just went dormant, you still have a chance to revive your lawn once drought conditions have passed. Follow proper lawn care practices after a drought to try and get your lawn back to its healthy, green self.

Each type of grass has its own specific needs regarding the timing of aeration, but in general, late summer to early fall is the best time to do so. You should fertilize your grass while you plant the grass seed, or soon afterward. Use an herbicide to prevent weeds or spot spray with herbicide to kill existing weeds.

If you accidentally watered your grass too much during the winter months, try aerating your lawn to encourage absorption of the water into the soil and improve drainage. Dethatching your lawn can also help the solid recover from overwatering and encourage healthy root and stalk health in your grass.

Liquid aeration products are generally safe for pets and children when used according to the manufacturer's instructions. Once the liquid has dried on the lawn, it poses minimal risk. However, as a precaution, keep pets and children off the treated area until it has dried completely, which usually takes a few hours. This helps ensure their safety while allowing the product to work effectively in improving your lawn's health.
