"Felipe and his team were outstanding. They started my renovation on time as scheduled and finished on time as scheduled. They kept my condo clean and were easy to work with. I hired him to do a complete bathroom renovation and it was a success! Felipe is exceedingly knowledgable and provided terrific ideas and pointers. I strongly recommend!"

"This was my second experience with Richards Drain Service. Robert removed a cracked toilet and replaced it with a new one. The old toilet had been in place for over 50 years and the mounting was completely fused with rust. He had to cut the bolts off with a saw to remove the old toilet. The new toilet is perfect and the job was done very well. When I need plumbing service in the future, I will be calling Mr. Richard."

"We have had some fairly difficult plumbing issues.  He has been able to repair them.  He has done significant work on our house.  From installing a new lever to close a drain, to fixing a running toilet.  At first he thought we were going to have to replace a kitchen faucet, and it was a fairly expensive one, so I asked him to see what he can do, and he was able to fix it for us.  He just tinkered with it and got it right.  He comes very quickly.  I had an emergency once where a faucet broke and started spewing water.  I could not budge the valve to turn off the water, and he came immediately to fix it.

All of this was a couple of years ago in the fall.  He is currently doing some plumbing work for me.  He is in the process of ordering a part for my faucet.  I have told him before he is our plumber for life."

"Orbit installed a Puronics water filtration system in my home over a month ago and all I can say is WOW! It is by far the best investment I have made for my family. I knew our county water was harsh and heavily chlorinated (I could smell and taste it), but I had no idea what a tremendous difference a Puronics system would make on everything in my home from bathing my kids, washing dishes, doing laundry and preventing water rings in my clean toilets. The alkaline drinking water is the cherry on top! This system has by far exceeded all of my expectations. Not only is this system the best in the industry, Orbit’s team, lead by Shelby, was exceptional, kind, and amazing to work with. I received wonderful customer service every step of the way. All of my questions were answered with factual information and data. Our installer, Travis, was very knowledgeable and further solidified working with Orbit was a great decision for my family. A high quality install was a must for me, especially with plumbing involved. The lifetime warranty Orbit provides stands alone in comparison to their competitors. While a Puronics system is more costly than the DIY system available from a local hardware store, it is worth every penny and will stay with my family for life. The quality is in a league of its own! I highly recommend!!!"

"

Virginia Bathtub Refinishing personnel were courteous, friendly and very professional.  They were extremely careful to protect my surrounding property, vent their equipment and, when the job was completed, they did a great job of cleaning up.  From the appearance of the surrounding area, the steps going upstairs and the entrance hall, no one would have ever known they were even there.  That stuff is really important to me!  The tub itself, is an even better story, though.  The technicians showed me color samples to choose from so that the tub would match the toilet and sink.  If I didn't know better, I'd think they put in a whole new tub.  It looks gorgeous and there is absolutely no appearance of any repair.

I am extremely pleased with their work and would highly recommend Virginia Bathtub Refinishing!

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Completing a full standard bathroom remodel offers the best value, with an average return on investment (ROI) of 70%. However, you don't need a full remodel to make an impact. To maximize value, focus on key components like flooring, the tub and shower, vanity, and cabinets. High-value upgrades include installing a walk-in shower, resurfacing a tub, retiling, or expanding the shower. For more budget-friendly options that still increase value, consider repainting with a light, neutral color, or updating the mirror and light fixtures. It's also crucial to address any necessary repairs, such as leaks, mold, or cracked tiles, as buyers will notice these issues. Avoid flashy upgrades like bathtub jets or steam showers, which don't add as much value.

In most cases, it’s better to repair a toilet than to replace it. Fixing issues like low water levels, running water, and flushing problems is less expensive than buying a new unit. Start thinking about replacement if the toilet is cracked, using excessive amounts of water, or is over 15 years old. Newer models are more water-efficient and clog less often than older models.

Most codes require 15 inches on either side of the toilet's centerline (from the wall or vanity) and at least 21 to 24 inches between the toilet and the wall in front of it. These codes ensure that your toilet is easy to use and access, even in small bathrooms. Check your local building codes for the exact measurements required.

While a leak may seem small, even a gentle trickle of consistent moisture can lead to mold problems in your bathroom. Make sure you know how to check for mold if your toilet has been leaking for a while. Pooling water by your toilet also poses a risk for someone slipping on the slick floor of your bathroom. Finally, a leak of any size can lead to water waste that increases your water bill.

If you decide to replace the toilet flapper yourself, the only cost will be buying the new flapper for around $5 to $17. You can also hire a plumber or handyperson to take on the job instead, in which case you’ll pay an hourly rate for labor plus the cost of parts. Handypersons charge $50 to $150 per hour, while plumbers cost $45 to $200 per hour. This repair might take less than an hour for your pro, but note that many providers have a minimum rate for a house call.
