"Great, Heil fixed the plumbing for my irrigation off the main, it was leaking and a mes. They cleaned it up and installed new PVC. It works great and no issues. Fair price. I'd hire them again. Paul"

"Mike did a great job of installing our new dishwasher. As usual it wasn’t a simple installation but Mike got it done. He also installed our washer and dryer when we bought our home. It was a narrow space and required some creative positions on his part but did a great job. I also find his prices quite fair."

"I contacted eleven highly rated plumbers through Angie's List and selected this one because they provided a reasonable estimate via Angie's List message system (half of them wouldn't do so) and did not charge a dispatch fee (half of them had one). Edmond (a master plumber who owns this business - not some random subcontractor) was prompt, courteous and got the job done efficiently. I was also pleasantly surprised that he installed a pressure regulator that included a gauge, which was not mentioned at the time of estimate. Will definitely use again should the need arise. Highly recommend."

"The work involved installing a kitchen faucet and a bathroom sink/vanity/faucet, some of which was very straightforward and some of which presented challenges because of the set up and small size of my bathroom. My plumber was knowledgeable and conscientious -- and a very smart and proactive problem solver as well! He identified and investigated a set of options to solve the problem, including looking up comments on the items I'd ordered to see if the problems he saw had been commented on by others and getting a few additional pieces of piping, etc, for a beautiful workaround. Very happy with his approach and his work!"

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, there are different size sink drains, but a 1 ½-inch-diameter drain is the most common modern drain size. However, some sink drains are 2 inches or 3 inches in diameter. A bathroom sink drain is 1 ¼ inches in diameter, and kitchen sink drainpipes are 1 ½ inches in diameter.

You’ll only need to replace your sink’s pipes when you start to notice signs of wear like corrosion or leaking. Most pipes last somewhere between 20 and 100 years, depending on the material. Copper and cast iron can last up to 100 years. Galvanized steel and brass generally have a 50-year lifespan. PVC pipes last 25 to 40 years.

The cost to fix a leaky pipe ranges depending on location—the easier the pipe is to access, the less expensive the repair will be. Because a leaky pipe under the sink is typically an exposed pipe, this is one of the least expensive repairs for a plumber to do, often costing between $150 to $300 to fix, on average.

Wall-mounted faucets are installed 6 to 8 inches above the countertop. The height you choose is very significant because the wrong choice will lead to a faucet that splashes water everywhere. Your installer should have a good recommendation based on your sink type, size, and shape. A good installer will ensure the sink is comfortable and splash-free.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), a leaky faucet that’s dripping at a rate of one drip per second can waste more than 3,000 gallons of water per year. This is one reason why it’s important to fix a leaky faucet sooner rather than later.
