"Ray came out (showing up on time) the day after I called for an appointment. He quickly saw that the pump had cracked thanks to some debris in the tank. He had brought a replacement with him just in case and he was able to install it right away. He also set up the new pump in a way that it was elevated so it would be less likely to be impacted by debris in the future."

"Once Mr. Wilkerson arrived, I told him the problem I was having with my sink. He then started performing the work to unclog my drain. It did not take that long for him to unclog my drain and he checked to make sure it was running fine before he left. I continued to monitor the flow of the water draining in the sink. It has been a week since he performed the work on my sink and I have not had any problems so far."

"I think I talked directly to the owner. Porcelite scheduled service within a week. Technician arrived a few minutes early, got the job done, presented the bill and got out of my hair. I didn't even need to move my sink cabinet which is within a couple of inches of the tub."

"Very pleased with our service.  We used a $200 Angies List coupon for this job.  The tub had been "glazed" before with latex paint, so he removed the paint, sanded and gave our tub a beautiful white finish.  He didn't have the correct drain part at the first visit, but came back first thing the following morning to finish up.  There were a few white smudges from his shoes on the stairs after he left, but they came right up. Would definitely recommend.

"Chris arrived quickly and professionally explained the situation and his proposed solution. Fortunately, the cartridge in our main floor shower was the source of the leak, which was a relatively simple fix. He answered several plumbing questions I had and provided recommendations for some future upgrades. He was kind, professional, and quickly got the job done."

"We needed to replace a toilet, James went with us to Home Depot to select one. We now have a water efficient and higher seated toilet, which is great for aging relatives that can’t bend so easily anymore. I would definitely hire/contract him again!"

"I rarely give out such high ratings however Greg at Cherokee plumbing exceeded expectations. This was the second time in one week we needed plumbing services - since bad luck usually comes in threes we know who to call if it's a plumbing problem! Our hot water heater broke over the weekend and Greg came to our rescue on a Tuesday. He was already in the middle of another big job however made the time to come to our rescue. He arrived promptly, did the job quickly, cleaned up the work area, and the cost of the job ended up less than expected!"

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can fit a vanity unit to an existing sink, especially if you plan to custom-build the vanity. With a prefabricated vanity, you’ll likely need to make a few adjustments. It depends on the type of sink, the size of the sink, and the existing plumbing. If you plan to retrofit a sink into a prefabricated vanity, make sure you take precise measurements and that your sink is compatible with the vanity you select. Prefabricated units have a precut sink hole, so you’ll need the size to match your sink.

Yes, you can install a farmhouse sink on an existing countertop—but there are some caveats. You’ll need to precisely measure. It’s best to choose a sink that’s the same dimensions as your existing sink, since your contractor won’t have to cut the countertop. Otherwise, pay close attention to the depth of your counter (the front to back measurement). You don’t want to install something that’s so big it sticks out beyond your countertop and cabinetry.

A well-installed wall-mounted faucet shouldn’t splash. That’s why it’s worth hiring someone with experience installing wall-mounted faucets. Beyond the installation, you should carefully choose the right faucet and sink combination. If your sink splashes after installation, you can try installing an aerator, which lowers the amount of water coming out of the faucet.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), a leaky faucet that’s dripping at a rate of one drip per second can waste more than 3,000 gallons of water per year. This is one reason why it’s important to fix a leaky faucet sooner rather than later.

The average cost to hire a plumber is typically between $45 and $200 per hour, with a common average rate around $125 per hour. This cost can vary based on your location, the plumber's experience, and the complexity of the job. Rates are often broken down by experience level: an apprentice may charge $45 to $90 an hour, a journeyman $60 to $110 an hour, and a master plumber $80 to $200 an hour. While hourly rates are standard, some plumbers may charge a flat fee for routine projects or offer project-based pricing. It's also common for plumbers to charge a minimum service or trip fee. For reference, some typical flat-rate costs for common jobs include: drain unclogging ($220), leaky faucet repair ($270), burst pipe repair ($400), toilet repair ($300), and water heater repair ($600). Note that these rates are for standard service hours; emergency, holiday, and after-hours calls will cost significantly more.
