"When I bought my townhouse five years ago, the previous owner had carefully taped and painted over a rear corner section of the master bedroom closet.  Perhaps this was done to conceal that there was a problem.  The first summer, I began noticing moisture issues in the closet with brown mildew spots on the wall.  I purchased Damp Rid Hanging Mositure Absorber Bags and Closet Dehumidifier containers to keep the moisture in check.  It was rather expensive purchasing these items every few months.    Well, fast forward to the beginning of this year when I noticed the brown spots had enlarged and additionally there were black mold spots.  I knew I needed to do something else and I wasn't sure I needed full-blown mold remediation.  Nevertheless, I contacted a mold inspector and he recommended scraping the wall, applying a solution and repainting.  I was surprised by his recommendation because I believed that, at a minimum, the custom closet shelving and back wall would need to be removed to identify the source of the moisture.  I was not interested in a "band-aid" approach."  I wanted the problem fixed, once and for all.  I took advantage of Angie's List Big Deal coupon for services provided by JW Home Improvement. Jesse is the President of JW Home Improvement and he came to my residence to review my requirements.  I actually had another project I wanted JW to tackle in addition to the closet but Jesse advised the closet would take up most of the day and that was number one on my priority list.  I was placed on JW's schedule for early April.  Cesar arrived early in the morning on the appointed day, looked at the closet, provided me with his findings on the issue and went to Home Depot to purchase necessary supplies.  Cesar removed the custom shelving and back wall and showed me the source of moisture which happened to be a crack from outside and there also appeared to be a roofing problem (which had recently been corrected when roof was replaced).  Cesar applied a solution to clean the mold, removed and replaced the damaged wood, insulation and drywall.  He applied the plaster, painted and re-installed the custom shelving.  He also sealed the crack from outside.  Dust accumulation was kept to a minimum and he used drop cloths in the closet and the bedroom.  Cesar demonstrated good time management skills and he was professional in his approach.  We have had a lot of rain over the past couple months and I see absolutely no signs of moisture intrusion in the closet.   I recommend JW Home Improvement and I plan to use them in the future."
