"I had this company paint 6 rooms and install a powder room that was rough-ed in when I purchased the house. The painting was done well, and timely and great care was taken. The powder room install was not a smooth or coordinated affair. There were several subs that were utilized and there was no sense of schedule to the process. I ended up have to make several runs to home depot to buy sinks and toilets when the contractor was not able to install the one I originally purchased and they looked at before taking the contract. I would definitely recommend them for paining, but not much else."

"Chesapeake Painting was a pleasure to work with from the beginning to the end. They were prompt, courteous, and professional. From the time I requested a quote to the end of the project was two weeks. Even though it was a relatively small job they treated us as though we were million dollar clients. We will definitely be using them again."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

You can sell a house with lead paint, but there are several requirements. If you are aware that lead paint exists anywhere in the home, you must disclose that to potential buyers. Required home inspections will often uncover lead paint, especially for older houses where lead paint may still be a problem. If you have taken steps to encapsulate lead, you should provide buyers with full documentation of the project so it won’t cause any problems later on.

The most common reason paint peels is because moisture gets trapped underneath it and disrupts its bond with the wall. Other causes for peeling paint include a poor original paint job, painting over a surface with dirt or other foreign material on it, or applying paint coats that are too thick.

Most spray paints are oil-based, meaning you will need a solvent to dissolve them, like paint thinner, lacquer thinner, or acetone. While solvents can be useful in removing paint, they are also very flammable and require the use of a respirator. Beyond that, these products may smear paint and cannot be used on all surfaces.

WD-40 can help remove paint on wood floors, but use it cautiously. Start with a small amount and let it sit for a few minutes, then gently scrape the paint off using a plastic (not metal) scraper. You may want to test it first on a hidden area to ensure it doesn't damage the finish. Professional products specifically designed for hardwood may be a better choice for large or stubborn paint spots.

If you’re painting your home or monitoring a job as it’s being completed, squash the issue ASAP if you notice paint is getting onto the roof. Keeping it clean is one of the keys to extending your roof’s life.

Removing latex paint before it dries is much easier and lowers the risk of damaging your shingles (more on that below). Simply spray the spot with a hose for one to two minutes to clear away the drying paint. In general, this is a good way to remove ugly stains from your roof without using chemicals.
