"We used Pyramid to install quartz countertops in our kitchen, as well as a sink, faucet and garbage disposal (also used their subcontractor to install backsplash). This review is about the countertops and sink/faucet/disposal job-- we loved working with Bogi and the project came out beautifully. We didn't see the quartz we wanted in the Pyramid warehouse (although they had a great selection of granite and other stones), so Bogi suggested we look at MSI near Dulles. Bogi ordered the slabs we selected from MSI, coordinated the plumber to come when the counter top installers were ready for him, and even had them come back to clean up after the backsplash was installed by their subcontractor another day (he left some spilled grout on the countertop that we didn't notice until after he left.) The workers were clean, courteous and efficient."

"When my neighbor across the street asked me over to see her new granite countertops, I couldn't believe how great they came out. It gave her kitchen a completely updated look. With the extra overhang, beveled edges, back splash, modern faucet and new sink, I thought she went all out - and she did. Then she told me the price and I was amazed. I asked her for the name of the contractor and she gave me Coskun’s number over at US Granite Marble. I called and was able to make an appointment for a free estimate within two days of the call and the countertops were installed a week later. I got a fantastic package deal that included a high quality granite, dismantling and removal of the old countertops, disconnecting and re-connecting the appliances, new sink, new faucet and had it all professionally done by Coskun Uslu and his assistant in one day. I was very pleased with his suggestions, his attention and craftsmanship. I highly recommend US Granite Marble!"

"I had a combination problem. My living room/dining room had been damaged and hidden under wall to wall carpeting. The floors were stained and discolored in several places. I assessed them as being in a pretty bad condition. In the master bedroom, half of the floors was hardwood and the other half was covered in plywood. I wanted to have the rest of the floor installed with hardwood and all three locations needed to be refinished and stained. First of all, Steve White was very professional when he visited my home. He obviously understands his work and told me what he suspected would have to be done, depending on the sub floor in the master bedroom. Of the three quotes I received, Steve was the only person to adequately address the problem I might encounter with my sub floor. When he sent me the written estimate, it was broken down into understandable language and included a list of the most frequently asked questions, a list of the things I could expect while the work was being done and floor care, all things that were informative and very helpful to me. On installation day, Jose and his team arrived on time and explained to me what they would do. I needed to modify my plan for the new flooring in my bedroom based on my sub floor, but Jose explained the rationale for making the change. His team was professional and extremely hard working. My floors are beautiful. I can hardly believe just how wonderful they look. I highly recommend this company. They also scheduled the work within a week after I accepted the estimate. I am very pleased. I have shown my neighbors and family how beautiful my floors are. Everyone is impressed as I am. Selecting Elegant Floors was such a wonderful experience."

"My Kitchen and Bath just finished my guest bathroom and John's customer service was incredible during this process! Every concern I had was addressed in a professional and timely manner. UT (project manager) was always pleasant and every visit he would check with me to see if I had any questions. Crew doing the work was polite and finished job a day ahead of schedule, but left the new bathroom a bit dirty (covered with construction dust and debris). John quickly fixed the situation, offering a cleaning crew to arrive the next morning to correct the oversight! Extremely pleased with bathroom and with being treated as a valued customers! Thank you! Will be contacting this company later in the year to do our basement bathroom!"

Marble Restoration questions, answered by experts

Rubbing alcohol won’t damage most countertops, and you can mix it with water to create a disinfecting spray to keep your kitchen clean. It’s safer than using bleach on countertops, which can stain and cause discoloration. Be careful with rubbing alcohol when it comes to lacquered or varnished surfaces, though.

The cost to repair a stone countertop typically ranges from $200 to $800. The final price depends on several factors, including the type and severity of the damage, the type of stone, and labor costs. Minor issues like small cracks, chips, or scratches are on the lower end of the cost spectrum, while more significant damage that requires resurfacing, refinishing, resealing, or custom color matching will be more expensive.

You should always seal cut countertops to prevent damage and to keep them looking their best. The right way to seal countertops depends on the type of material. For laminate and wood, apply epoxy or other specialty sealers by pouring it onto the countertop and letting it flow across the whole surface to the edges, guiding it with a paint stick or putty knife. You will need to move quickly so that it does not dry or harden before you are done. For stone countertops, use a sealant specially manufactured for your type of stone and apply it according to manufacturer directions.

You can cut granite countertops after installing them, but you need to consider the mess it will make. Dust will be everywhere, and lots of protective gear will be required. On top of that, you will need to measure meticulously to make sure the cuts you make are perfect; otherwise, you’ll be stuck having to replace the entire slab of granite, which is a much bigger job.

You can cut countertops without chipping by using your saw correctly and having a new fine-toothed blade. You can also put masking tape on the front of the countertop material across the cut line and cut from front to back. However, it is very hard to cut countertops without chipping them, especially if they are made of stone or more fragile materials like laminate. The best advice is to know how to use the equipment, use the correct cutting method for the material, cut from back to front, move slowly, and practice on scrap material first.
