"Extremely well, from initial response of owner, to timeframe for work completed. The gentleman who worked on the tub was courteous and professional. He took all steps necessary to protect the bathroom and the surface of the tub as he performed his job. The tub looks better than new! One word of warning for others, the fumes generated from this process are intense, so opening windows in the house while work is being done is highly recommended."

"For several years, we’ve been planning to replace our kitchen counters. When Angie’s List promoted a deal offered by Jeffress Stone, we inquired whether this was the deal we’d been looking for. And it really turned out to be, from quality of the stone to craftsmanship to value. First, Jeffress sent us photos of the stones included in the deal. When we realized we couldn’t make a decision based solely on photographs, Jeffress arranged for us to visit their warehouse, where we were treated graciously. But we found something we liked much more than the samples, and feared that the up-sell would bust the deal. But the added cost proved to be reasonable and fair. Both direct contacts were professional and timely. Gary arrived a few minutes early to make measurements and the template, and that process took nearly two hours. As a result, the finished stone fit perfectly. Similarly, the installation crew arrived a few minutes early, and the owner, Dave, followed close on their heels. He was present throughout the entire installation. We were especially impressed by the care with which the crew mixed caulk to match our cabinets exactly for one tricky seam. The crew took care to clean up when the job was done and to make sure we were satisfied with the installation. We’ve received several compliments on the new look in our kitchen and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jeffress Stone."

"George's Painting painted the entire interior of our 4 BR, 3-story house, partially remodeled our master bath and did some repair work, all in one week. There were up to 6 workers in our house at any given time. It was a large job, and both George Sr. and George Jr. were very responsive and professional. We stayed in the house during the job and workers were considerate and courteous.  Price was very fair and we were amazed at the speed with which they worked. Either George Sr or George Jr checked in on the job every day, and both were very responsive when we needed to contact them. There are always problems with this large a job, and these were dealt with quickly and proficiently, even after the job was finished. We would definitely use them again.

"Felipe and his team were outstanding. They started my renovation on time as scheduled and finished on time as scheduled. They kept my condo clean and were easy to work with. I hired him to do a complete bathroom renovation and it was a success! Felipe is exceedingly knowledgable and provided terrific ideas and pointers. I strongly recommend!"

"Overall, Capital Cabinet Refacing did an excellent job and we were pleased with the results. Javier and Trulio did the work skillfully over a three day period and were careful in containing any dust and totally removed all old materials, which we also appreciated. Keith, one of the owners, visited us for the initial estimate and offered a clear explanation and made helpful suggestions. We have dealt with larger area companies for home renovation work in the past as well as Handyman businesses. Capital Cabinet is a smaller family business and we found the results to be good and of exceptional quality. The new countertops came from a subcontractor through Capital Cabinet and there was a very slight backsplash measurement issue that required recaulking and painting to resolve final placement. Capital Cabinet resolved the issue in a timely manner and to our satisfaction. We recommend Capital Cabinet Refacing without reservation."

Marble Restoration questions, answered by experts

There are three main downsides to quartzite: the cost, the porosity, and the weight. As a natural stone, there’s a level of scarcity that can drive up the price of certain types of quartzite. Even more common varieties are less affordable than synthetic materials like laminate and other natural stones like granite.

You’ll also have to reseal your quartzite countertop annually to combat the natural porosity and reinforce your cabinets to account for the added weight.

Yes, in some instances, homeowners can have their heat-damaged quartz countertops repaired. However, it greatly depends on the severity. A pro can buff out minor discolorations. Epoxy kits are also available to fix minor cracks. Sadly, deep burns causing extreme resin damage may require a complete replacement.

You most likely purchased a quartz countertop because it won't stain or etch like marble. However, etching can still happen depending on the quality of the quartz and whether it is repeatedly cleaned with harsh chemicals or exposed to acidic spills. Remember, while quartz is more resistant than natural stone, just like Superman when faced with Kryptonite, it is not indestructible.

It is advisable to have stone countertops inspected every few years, especially if damage is noticed. Regular maintenance and inspection help catch and resolve issues early, extending the countertops' lifespan.

It’s generally safe to use a Magic Eraser on quartz countertops. Magic Erasers are made from melamine foam, a gentle abrasive that can remove scratches and stains from various surfaces. Although using abrasive cleaners on quartz is not recommended, the melamine foam is gentle enough to remove minor stains and scratches without permanently damaging the quartz countertops.
