"It went well. The locksmith arrived on time, was respectful, and showed expertise in the job. He made some helpful suggestions that simplified the work. I would recommend this firm for locksmith services and I would consider using them for handyman services."

"The locksmith technician Larry was right on time and did the required work within an hour. He is a pro at what he does and you could tell from his work ethos. Plus the Angie's List discount coupon was honored as well.

".Chris  came to my house in about an hour after I called.  He assessed the situation and fixed the problem in about 20 minutes.
The door latch was loose and extremely hard to open. He removed the latch, assessed the problem and had it in working order in a very short time.
I have called on him in the past and highly recommend him to anyone who needs a locksmith.

"GREAT PLACE!  Two years ago, a neighbor recommended Baldino's when I wanted to change the locks on my home.  Their Clarendon branch performed that service (promptly and with great customer service!).
This time, I needed to unlock a pricey suitcase that I inadvertently locked while I was changing the lock's combination.  I called the manufacturer first.  They suggested that perhaps a locksmith could do it, sparing me the $75 it would cost me to ship it to them for repair.  So, I called Baldino's main line, explained the problem, and they recommeneded Chris at the Landmark location.  They said he was one of their most experienced locksmiths, and they were sure he could handle this. And he did!  Took him only a few minutes. Both Chris and the colleague he was working with at the shop (part time, retired Pentagon guy) were very polite, friendly, answered my questions and didn't make me feel silly for accidently locking the suitcase!  I'd go back anytime.  I'll be sure to use them for any future needs.

"Arrived 2 hours outside 3 hour window, but did at least call to say they'd be late. Low-tech vent cleaning: a drill, a wire brush, and extension cable, two guys in a car, a short ladder, a small vacuum cleaner. I've had an entire house's vents steam cleaned before at the price they charged for 20 feet of dryer duct. Too expensive for the job and amount of effort put in. The invoice said Locksmith so obviously they do this on the side. The job was passable, just not super thorough. Not recommended."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s possible a burglar can get through a deadbolt. Some types of deadbolts are harder for an intruder to get through, though. For example, a single-cylinder lock only requires breaking a window nearby and simply turning it. While other locks, such as a double-cylinder lock, may offer greater protection and make it harder for an intruder, no deadbolt is 100 percent effective.

If your key breaks in a lock, first remain calm and avoid forcing the broken piece further in. You may be able to remove it yourself if a portion of the key is still protruding from the lock. To aid removal, lubricate the keyhole with a graphite-based spray. Then, try using tools like pliers, tweezers, a bobby pin, or even a jigsaw blade to gently grasp and pull the broken piece out. If these methods don't work, you can't reach the key, or you're concerned about damaging the lock, it's best to call a professional locksmith for assistance.

While lock crunching as a whole is not terribly common, it is one of the most frequently used means of forced entry into a home. Recent data suggests that forced entry through lock crunching or snapping occurs in more than 25% of burglaries.

Using a combination of tools (often store-bought plumbing tools) and brute force, a burglar can easily snap the lock on a door. Snapping a lock aims to gain access to the cylinder inside, which holds the locking mechanism. Once the thief snaps the lock, they can pick the cylinder open and walk right in.

There are several situations when you should change or replace your locks to ensure your home's security. Key moments include moving into a new house, after a break-in or attempted break-in, or when a roommate or anyone else with a key moves out. It is also wise to change your locks if you lose your keys, especially if they have an address attached or you suspect they were stolen. Finally, if your locks are old, broken, worn out, or have become unreliable, they should be replaced.
