"Rema was very responsive and throughly diagnosed the issues with my Plumbing. He had to pull the basement toilet in order to clean the drain to the street. I am very happy with his work and would recommend him highly."

"I called Day & Night Plumber again because I had a good experience with their plumber Lal last time. His brother Saul(?) came this time to replace the toilet. As the brother, he explained everything in detail and did the job carefully. There was a little communication problem at the beginning. I called in for a toilet replacement two days earlier and instructed them to come with a specific toilet that I want from Home Depot. I texted the dispatcher the screen shot of the product from Home Depot's website and got her to confirm the job. But the plumber apparently did not get the information so he had to go out to get the toilet which added an extra hour to the job. But overall I like this company. It's small the job quality is consistent. The price is also reasonable. Will hire again for sure."

"Exceeded our expectations! I called at 12:30 on a Saturday about a leak in our basement. He was there by 3:00. Found it was our toilet on the first floor. He fixed it all quickly and efficiently. Explained in detail what happened and why it happened. Even explained the hum we hear in the house when the water turns off. Even liked our dog Bruno!"

"I called Remedy at 7:30am to request a new toilet installation, and they were able to get it done the same day at a very reasonable price. The technician took his shoes off before entering the house and kept his mask on the entire time. He was professional and courteous, as was the office personnel I spoke with. They removed the old toilet, installed the new toilet, processed the paperwork, and disposed of the old toilet, all in less than an hour. I would highly recommend Remedy Plumbing and will certainly use them again if needed."

"The toilet in my guest was clogged and no amount of my home plunging would unclog it. I also had a house guest arriving in two days . I Jospeh Plumbing Company and they came immediately and worked for sometime, but finally unclogged it. The remarked about how very clogged the toilet was and later I found out that an unknowing guest had dumped her catâ s litter box in the toilet. The toilet is now functioning and Joseph Plumbing saved the day! They were terrific! They also checked back with me to be sure that the problem was solved and that I was happy with their service. I certainly am!!"

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Many homeowners stress about cleaning before an emergency plumber arrives, but you’re far better off doing the following while you wait for your plumber to get to your home:

  • Shut the water off at your water main if you have a leak or a burst pipe

  • Avoid using any water fixtures in your home, including appliances

  • Clear a path to the problem area so that it’s easily accessible

  • Consider shutting your breaker if you’re concerned that the leak may affect your electrical system

To keep your toilet in good working order, replace the toilet fill valve every five years. Toilets get quite a workout, so while toilet maintenance may not be on top of your to-do list, it’s essential to keep up with it to ensure your toilet is in good working order and ready when needed.

The main causes for a leaky toilet flapper include wear and tear or a broken or incorrectly installed toilet flapper chain. If your toilet flapper is torn or deteriorated, it can’t provide a proper seal to keep water from running. Meanwhile, a chain that has come loose, was moved, or just wasn’t installed right can prevent your flapper from fully closing.

Yes, and no. Your shower, toilet, and sink all connect to the same main drain, but the secondary drains going from each fixture to the main drain are usually separate. This isn’t always the case—especially in older homes—but since toilets contain black water and showers, tubs, and sinks have grey water, toilets are more regulated and come at a greater risk of contamination. It’s best to keep these drains separate using individual waste collection for this reason.

Most toilets have a 12-inch rough-in or hole, but some have 10- or 14-inch holes, which means that not all toilets fit all setups. Knowing how to measure the rough-in is essential, so you purchase a toilet that fits the existing drain hole. It can be costly to have the rough-in moved, and most stores don’t accept toilet returns.
