"Hired to put in a 3 1/4 oak hardwood floor on our first floor. Work was very well done considering how not square our house is. I am very satisfied with my new floors!"

Small jobs welcome

Offers commercial services

"After much research for carpet installers, I contacted Advanced Carpet Installations through Home Advisor. Jim promptly returned my call and scheduled an appointment. His quote was quite reasonable, and he explained in detail the process for installing the new carpet. Jim was professional, friendly and informative, and it was obvious that he takes great pride in his work. He is extremely conscientious and respectful of your furniture and personal belongings. Jim completed my carpet installation in less than two days without a helper. 528 SF of carpet was replaced including stairs, and I am delighted with the results. On a scale of 1 to 10, Advanced Carpet Installations deserves a 12. However, the highest rating that Home Advisor has is 5, so that will have to suffice. From the initial contact to completion of the job, the service was outstanding. Jim worked quickly and efficiently. He is honest and trustworthy and just an overall nice guy, I believe that you would be extremely pleased utilizing Advanced Carpet Installations for your flooring needs. I would hire Advanced Carpet Installations again without hesitation, and I highly recommend their services."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

One of the upsides of cork flooring is that it's mold-resistant, so you don't have to worry about mildew or mold growth on wet cork. However, you should always clean up any moisture as soon as possible and use as little water as you need when cleaning. This will help you avoid issues like buckling or swelling in your cork flooring, which often requires replacement, and prevent moisture from seeping into your subfloor, which can cause the dreaded mold or mildew problems.

New flooring costs quite a bit, so longevity is important to think about. Concrete generally has the longest life span, but it’s not always a good solution for homes with wooden subfloors. That said, hardwood floors and stone floors can last up to 100 years, and you can refinish or restore them to remove imperfections from daily wear.

Yes, you can negotiate the purchase price of new carpet. You may also be able to negotiate installation costs or other fees in addition to the per-foot pricing of the carpet itself. You may have better luck negotiating with an independent retailer (as opposed to a big-box store), as they may have more discretion in pricing, but it’s always worth asking.

The rule of three for flooring means that you should have a maximum of three flooring types throughout your home, such as hardwood in your bedroom and living room and tile in your kitchen and bathroom. The rule brings cohesion to your home and creates a seamless look. By using the same material, you also save money on future repairs.

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction and friction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls. Additionally, if a fall does occur, carpet offers more cushioning, which can lessen the severity of an injury. While hard surfaces can look great, they are often more slippery. However, it's worth noting that some carpets, especially if they are new, dirty, or have a slick texture, can also pose a slipping hazard. To improve safety on any type of stair surface, you can add traction treads to increase grip.
