"Don Morris is an amazing individual. I've been calling contractors for my septic system and for other work for weeks. He is the only one who consistently returns calls. Additionally, he is punctual and direct. He doesn't pull any punches. His pricing is amazing, and a very pleasant surprise. He and his crew showed up on the agreed upon date, and they went right to work. Within three days, they had everything finished, including delivery of a truckload of loam. I couldn't be happier with the work they did. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend DJ Morris to anyone.

"By Andrew v. Engineer Dave Schofield of Capstone displayed professionalism by turning a flawed design for our Sudbury septic system into one highly adaptive and functional. He was purposeful about doing the right thing even when not winning installation contract, execution of which he in in fact supervised. In a business which includes its share of uneven performers, Schofield’s competence is a stand-out."

"Sorry, looks like this review got stuck in draft mode for quite a while. But the good thing about that is everyone gets to read a review with an update 1.5 years later on the quality of the work completed! In late 2020 I had recently moved into my new home and the gas water heater wasn't working properly. It was leaky and at least needed the pressure relief valve replaced, but the tank was well past it's expected lifetime. The techs were very helpful, kind and knowledgeable. The valve replacement wasn't going to work because repairing the tank could damage it further, so the tank was replaced instead. The price was very reasonable and installation was done really well. They did a great job with cleanup too! One and a half years later and the tank has had zero issues! I would definitely recommend them for heavy jobs like this or more simple ones around the house. Thank you very much!"

"David arrived within three hours after contacting him concerning a collapsed septic tank. He coordinated with town health department and completed job in timely manner, leaving the various areas he excavated in clean and tidy condition. The project was very difficult as he had to excavate right next to basement and foundations, and was a very confined space. David responded immediately to phone and text messages, and always kept me informed."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

Trenches are typically 12 to 24 inches deep and 8 inches wide. However, the required depth depends on the specific project and local ordinances. For example, a French drain may need to be 18 inches deep, while a water pipe might require a depth of 24 inches and a drainage pipe 36 inches. Your city or county may have specific regulations, so it's wise to consult with an excavation professional to determine the correct depth for your project.

The lifespan of your well casing depends mainly on the material it’s made from. Stainless steel and galvanized steel casings are designed to withstand the pressures and environment of deep-water wells but are susceptible to corrosion. Most steel casings last from 20 to 35 years, on average. PVC casing is highly durable and, if used correctly, can last up to 50 years.

Ideally, you should conduct a mechanical inspection and a bacterial or well water inspection yearly. While you might be able to push it off to every other year, it’s best to have peace of mind, especially when it comes to something that you use so frequently.

If you experience repeated gastrointestinal illness in the household, it's important to test the well water more regularly for quality and cleanliness to check for bacteria.

The septic installation company must follow several steps to put in a new septic system and leach field. The installer will study your property and determine the best place for the tank and leach field. The site should be away from existing structures, be free of trees, and have proper drainage and grading. Preparing the site for the tank and leach field will require significant excavation work.

How do you set your well’s pressure tank? All you need to do is first drain the tank of water and find the pressure switch. Remove the switch cover and adjust the switch with a wrench—clockwise to increase water pressure, and counter-clockwise to reduce it. Each complete turn of the nut on the switch should equal 2.5 psi. Once this is done, replace the switch cover. All that’s left is to adjust the pressure of the tank itself using an air compressor and a tire gauge to support the new setting.
