"Don Morris is an amazing individual. I've been calling contractors for my septic system and for other work for weeks. He is the only one who consistently returns calls. Additionally, he is punctual and direct. He doesn't pull any punches. His pricing is amazing, and a very pleasant surprise. He and his crew showed up on the agreed upon date, and they went right to work. Within three days, they had everything finished, including delivery of a truckload of loam. I couldn't be happier with the work they did. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend DJ Morris to anyone.

"By Andrew v. Engineer Dave Schofield of Capstone displayed professionalism by turning a flawed design for our Sudbury septic system into one highly adaptive and functional. He was purposeful about doing the right thing even when not winning installation contract, execution of which he in in fact supervised. In a business which includes its share of uneven performers, Schofield’s competence is a stand-out."

"I left a message and within 5 minutes Harry called me back. When I described to him that another septic company had told me my tank was leaking, he gave me a great explanation of how the system worked, what to look for and what to do and not do. Harry spent a good amount of time on the phone with me answering my questions even though he doesn't service my town and doesn't do tank replacements. He also gave me a referral to another provider that does service my area and would give me an honest opinion as to whether any work needed to be done. If Holliston Sewer Service did service my town, I would absolutely use them and work with Harry. I was very impressed with his responsiveness and honesty even though he couldn't service my area or do this type of work."

"Dave at Clearwater Contracting is awesome. He is honest, communicates very well, and whatever he promises he delivers on. His work is of the highest quality. He is very talented, and did a great job fixing our septic tank, changing the bulkhead, and building a new patio. Dave has an eye for design, and made some great recommendations for the patio, and it came out looking great. I highly recommend him."

"Sorry, looks like this review got stuck in draft mode for quite a while. But the good thing about that is everyone gets to read a review with an update 1.5 years later on the quality of the work completed! In late 2020 I had recently moved into my new home and the gas water heater wasn't working properly. It was leaky and at least needed the pressure relief valve replaced, but the tank was well past it's expected lifetime. The techs were very helpful, kind and knowledgeable. The valve replacement wasn't going to work because repairing the tank could damage it further, so the tank was replaced instead. The price was very reasonable and installation was done really well. They did a great job with cleanup too! One and a half years later and the tank has had zero issues! I would definitely recommend them for heavy jobs like this or more simple ones around the house. Thank you very much!"

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

Septic drain lines (or leach lines) are typically buried between 18 and 36 inches underground, and should be at least 6 inches below the surface. These pipes are perforated and surrounded by filtering materials like sand or gravel. Burying the lines at this depth helps minimize odors and allows bacteria and other biological processes in the soil to effectively treat the wastewater. Burying lines too close to the surface can cause issues unless the soil is very compact and stable.

There are a few things that can make your drain field fail. These include driving or parking vehicles or heavy machinery on the field, excess sodium in the soil, or having a high water table. You can prevent failure by ensuring your installer checks that your chosen location is suitable for a drain field and properly maintaining your system with the help of a professional.

Installation necessitates professional expertise due to complexity and to ensure safety when handling waste.

Yes, it is possible to drill a well by hand, but it calls for a good deal of physical labor. Drilling a well by hand is best suited for softer soil, and it may not be possible through rockier terrain. For wider and deeper holes, companies with professional equipment make the job much easier.

Yes, a bigger well pump can increase water pressure—up to a point. If you currently have a well pump of 8 GPM, you might notice a pressure boost when you go up to 10 GPM. However, overshooting significantly (going up to 15 GPM for an 8 GPM home) can strain your well system and result in things like burst pipes that can decrease your water pressure and make for costly repairs.
