"The 1964 bulkhead I had out back was replaced a year ago, but the wood and insulation underneath (the ceiling of the walkway underground to my basement under the back living room) took in water damage and the area was very musty for years. Tom Morneault of Morneault Environmental was the only guy I could find that would not only treat the wood to remove anything growing on it/get rid of the smell, but his team also removed old wood and insulation and re-insulated for me as part of the deal, which was still hundreds of dollars cheaper than the other companies I talked to, which would only remove the old wood and insulation, they don't put anything back in. Tom's team was here by 8:30 this morning and by 2pm they were done and it looks fantastic and smells crisp and clean. They didn't even stop for breaks or have to make any trips to get supplies, they had them all in the van, including the insulation boards. Very highly recommended if anyone is in the same situation."

A dump trailer consists of an open box bed with a short barrier that’s equipped with wheels and can be easily attached to a vehicle for transportation. This option is a favorite because it’s easy to navigate to and from destinations and is ideal for hauling small waste quantities. On the flip side, a dumpster may not have such features and will need to be loaded onto rather than attached to a vehicle to get it where you want to go. Check out the cost to rent a dump trailer or even the cost of junk removal when deciding between your options.

It’s called a 20-yard dumpster because the volume of space in the dumpster can hold 20 cubic yards of material. A cubic yard is 3-feet long, 3-feet wide, 3-feet tall cube, as 3 feet is equal to 1 yard. This volume can hold about 110 to 130 33-gallon trash bags.

The amount a 6-by-10-foot dump trailer can hold varies depending on the model. Generally, however, they can hold at least 4 cubic yards of waste with a load capacity of at least 4,000 lbs. This is around 1/4 to 1/2 the amount a standard junk removal truck can hold. It’s also considerably less than the most common dumpster size of 20 cubic yards.

If you have a considerable amount of excess rip rap, you will need to hire a local landscape grader or a construction company that specializes in rip rap installation to remove it for you. Because rip rap consists of large stones, it requires proper equipment to haul away and dispose of properly. If you happen to have the necessary equipment, you can drop off your excess rip rap at a landfill or transfer station. 

Not every, but many, states classify fluorescent tubes and CFL light bulbs as hazardous waste that need to be disposed of in a specified manner. California defines its list of hazardous fluorescent tubes as follows:

  • Fluorescent tubes, including low mercury tubes.

  • Compact fluorescents, including low mercury lamps

  • Metal halide lamps, such as floodlights for  large indoor and outdoor areas and gymnasiums

  • Sodium lamps, such as those sometimes used as security lighting and outdoor floodlights

  • Mercury vapor lamps, such as those sometimes used for street lighting
