"We had used Taozen earlier this year after we bought a house that required the floors to be refinished. I was really pleased with the quality of the work and responsiveness. I am writing another review as I found myself in a pickle after realizing that we had unfinished hardwood floor that had been installed as part of remodeling one of the closets in the master bedroom. I called Tao because the work needed to be done urgently since we moving into the house in two days. Tao promptly went to the house to take a look and had this crew come the next day to sand and stain the floor! In addition, they also installed a piece of hardwood to fill a gap that had been created between the master bath and the bedroom because of the remodeling. I was charged fairly for the work and was extremely pleased with it. If you are looking for a professional and reliable business for your hardwood floor needs, look no further than Taozen!"

Customers say: True professional

"These guys did a great job. It was fast, they provided solutions on how to remove the old floor and did all the leg work to help me choose the new floor, pickup the new floor and install the new floor. I was dreading having this work done. They made it painless, fast and cost effective. I can’t thank them enough."

"We hired them to sand, stain our wooden floors plus adding some in our closets. All very straightforward and transparent from the start, plenty of options all well explained and then they executed beautifully what promised. Highly recommended business."

"Very professional. After they sanded my floor, one board was distinctly different - a light wood instead of a red oak. I called after they sanded the room and the next day when they finished - wow I could not tell the difference. It was unexpected and they came through. I highly recommend them."

"Great experience! Ralph, Bill, and crew were prompt, clean, and did a great job refinishing 2 bedroom floors. They moved some furniture and were very pleasant throughout the project. From the time I first contacted them to the time they were finished with the work was a total of only 5 days!! They took a messy, inconvenient project and turned it into as good of an experience as it could be. I highly recommend them to anyone."

Floor Sanding questions, answered by experts

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.

A few different types of land surveys can help determine certain features and boundaries of your property. These include:

  • Boundary surveys describe the actual borders of a property. These are generally required when trying to get construction permits issued.

  • Location surveys provide much of the same information as a boundary survey but also include in-depth information about any improvements made to your property.

  • Mortgage location surveys are usually required by lenders and title companies before financing or offering an insurance policy.

  • Site-planning surveys are done before applying for building permits and can be issued before any major home improvements.

  • Topographic surveys provide a formal map of land elevations. It can also describe the location and size of natural features and any land improvements.

With proper training and experience, reading blueprints is fairly straightforward and not very difficult. If you don’t have the necessary knowledge to interpret the symbols, abbreviations, and other notations used, blueprints may not make sense. Learning to read blueprints can help you understand the construction process and keep you more involved and informed when you’re building a house.

If you’re planning to dig on your property, you’ll need to check for underground utility lines. Call the national call-before-you-dig 811 number. Once connected to an operator, you can schedule a site visit to mark underground lines. This way, you won’t accidentally dig into pipes and can cause major (read: costly) issues.

The small lines on the tape measure either indicate inches, fractions of an inch, or centimeters and millimeters. On the imperial unit side (aka the inches side), the longest lines indicate inches, followed by the next shortest lines that indicate a half-inch, and then the quarter, eighth, and sixteenth-inch. On the metric side, the lines break down meters, centimeters, and millimeters.
