"Very professional, gave us an estimate quickly and they were able to schedule the job right away. They were very neat and did a great job repairing our fence. I would recommend this business and I will not hesitate to hire again for other jobs around our house. Nancy H"

"My house needed to be repaired from a huge fire. I was looking for a GC that has extensive knowledge of fire damage. After multiple quotes, I chose WS Builders because the owner was very professional and knew what he was talking about. Wladimir assisted me from beginning to end. We gutted the whole house and replace all the electricity. This was a big project and it was necessary to find a GC who had previous experience in rebuilding a house damaged by fire. I am very please with Wladimir's work ethic and professionalism. He had a quick turnaround and communicated thoroughly to ensure that I fully understand what was going on during the project. I recommend using him if you are looking for somebody with years of experience. Regardless of what job it is, he has the subcontractors to ensure the job is completed in a timely manner."

"Sam was a pleasure to work with. He was friendly, prompt, and courteous. He even remembered that, if at all possible, to squeeze me in so that I would be able to complete a new garage door installation. Very much appreciated!!!"

"We needed a new roof on our home due it being extremely old. G&O did an amazing job with doing this project for us. Every day they were there early am until late at night working to make sure the roof was completely in a timely manner. All of the workers were nice, polite and extremely informative with any questions we had. By the time they were done, you couldn't even tell they were there with how well they cleaned up all around our house. Nick (owner) came to check in everyday to make sure everything was going the way it was supposed to and maintained constant communication with us the entire job. Compared to other companies we checked with, G&O was definitely the best priced. We will definitely be using them in the future for additional home construction projects!"

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

If improperly installed, an egress window can compromise your foundation’s structural integrity, so it’s important to work with a pro to ensure your foundation remains in good shape. Any money you may save on a DIY egress window installation may cost you in the long run if your foundation is damaged in the process.

Yes, you absolutely need a permit to add a window to your house. Your contractor can likely obtain this permit on your behalf. Ask about this when getting quotes from multiple window contractors.

Yes, egress windows can significantly add value to a home. By making basement and attic areas safer and more livable, they allow you to market these spaces as finished living areas, which increases your property's value. Many homeowners can recover the full installation cost, with some sources citing a return on investment of around 70%. The exact value added depends on your specific home, location, and adherence to local building codes. Beyond financial value, egress windows enhance functionality by adding natural light and comfort. They are also a crucial safety feature, often mandated by building codes to serve as an emergency exit.

Most modern egress windows installed in basements open outward into a window well, although some older homes have in-swing windows. Egress windows, like casement windows used in other parts of the home, such as bedrooms and bathrooms, may open inward, and these windows are often larger than outward-opening windows.

Basements are generally required to have windows for your safety. At a minimum, windows should provide an egress in the event of a fire. But basement windows do more than offer a way out; basement windows also offer natural light and ventilation in an area of your home that is otherwise dark and musty.
