"My husband, who generally does our yard work himself was unable to do it this year so via Angis List Silvas Greenscape was recommended and we could not be happier with their work. They did an excellent job in removing the leaves and other debris from the lawn as well as cleaning the gutters. The customer service we received by Selena was excellent as well. Selena is very professional, respectful, personable, and responds to any questions in a prompt manner. We would definitely hire them again!"

"Amazing job trimming a massive tree looming over my yard/house. It's a tight space (city dwelling) and they did the job with care to my house, fence, and neighbors property."

"We were very happy with the results of our landscaping project done by Macauley Brothers. The new paver walkway looks fantastic. The front lawn was graded and and seeded and new grass started to appear just 4 days after it was sown. Grading was a challenge due to the roots of a large silver maple on one side but the crew was able to tackle it. The planting of the 8 ft arborvitaes required the removal of a few new sections of fence. The trees look great and the fence was put back up without a problem. Bernie Macauley was so easy to deal with from the initial estimate through completion. His crew was AWESOME too: polite, hard working and asked questions during installation to ensure that we got exactly what we wanted. The office staff communicated well too, keeping us appraised of start dates and working hard to source the exact Techno Bloc material that we wanted. Not an easy feat during the production issues and high demand caused by the pandemic. I highly recommend Macauley Brothers. Book early as this good landscaper's dance cards fill up early."

"Wow- these guys from Leo's Tree Service worked hard and fast on removing a 60 foot tree from my front yard. I was amazed at how fast they worked with climbers topping the tree. Leo's was also very fast to offer a price and schedule the tree removal within a couple of days. Nice. Very professionally and efficiently done and they followed my instructions on cleanup exactly. I would not hesitate to hire them again. ML"

"Great Job. After we contacted S1 Tree Services for an estimate, Elivon responded quickly and gave us a fair price on what we needed done. Within a week the crew came to our home and worked tirelessly to remove 2 pine trees one of which had snapped in two from an ice/snow storm. The crew removed all limbs and debris and left our yard clean with no damage. The crew was very careful and thorough and Elivon could not have been any nicer. Highly recommend this company and will definitely use them in the future. No need to look anywhere else."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is highly recommended to remove tree stumps. Leaving them in the ground can lead to several problems, as they are not only unsightly but can also reduce your property's value. Stumps can obstruct landscaping plans, make mowing difficult, and hinder new growth. More importantly, they are prime breeding grounds for pests like termites, ants, and mice, which can spread to your home and cause costly damage to its wood and foundation. Stumps also attract fungi and diseases that can infect other healthy trees and plants in your yard. As a stump decays, it might sprout new, unwanted shoots. While removing a stump is an investment, it prevents these potential issues and enhances the safety, health, and appearance of your landscape.

Ivy eventually kills trees by restricting its growth, blocking sunlight, absorbing nutrients and water from the soil, and weakening the tree. Trees with ivy are more likely to experience diseases, pests, rot, and fungi growth. When ivy weighs down tree branches, the tree is more likely to break during a storm and cause damage.

Trimming a tree can take anywhere from just two hours to a full day, depending on the age of the tree, the number of trees, and the species. Young trees are generally easier to trim, as their branches are often thinner in diameter and easier to reach compared to mature trees. They also tend to be healthier. If you haven’t trimmed your trees before or it’s been a while, the process could take even longer.

If a disease has attacked and destroyed the roots, then the tree may fall over as soon as it has died or while part of it is still alive. Trees that die with their roots left in place tend to stay standing for much longer, but those roots will decay eventually, allowing gravity to do the rest.

Tree roots are hearty and complex systems, so they don’t die immediately after the rest of the tree is removed. If you leave the root system in place, it takes anywhere from two to seven years for it to run out of nutrients. It is worth noting, however, that the roots stop growing and expanding after cutting down the rest of the tree.
