"The two guys that work for Callahan Excavation showed at 8:00 AM sharp.  The found where the septic tank cover was using a metal detector.  Using a large propane torch they heated the ground to soften it.  Then they took an electric jackhammer and dug up the ground exposing the cover.
These guys knew what they were doing and they were there for about an hour.  They helped me out and I am happy to leave this review.

"I had a very difficult situation I needed to have a septic replacement in a very short period of time in order for the sale of my house to go through. Jim and his crew were outstanding in thier workmanship and efforts. In fact my nieghbors could not get over how quick and how well everthing looked at the end of the job. We were able to close on time which saved my family a great deal of money. I would highly recommend Jim and Kellett excavating for any type of work. It is nice to see that some people still have pride in the work they perform. Kevin G"

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

Digging a well can cost between $20 and $25,000, depending on your needs. If you’re looking to dig a well yourself, all you need is a shovel. If you’re looking to have a well drilled by a professional, you can expect to pay around $15 to $30 per foot. The total cost of drilling a well will average to $5,500.

Regular checks of pressure tanks, testing water quality, and cleaning intake screens.

There are three layers of wastewater in a septic tank: scum (solid waste that floats to the top of the wastewater), liquid (the relatively clean liquid wastewater in between the two other layers), and sludge (solid waste that falls to the bottom of the wastewater). The buildup of sludge is one of the main reasons septic tanks need to be pumped. If the tank is more than 1/3 of the way full with a combination of sludge and scum, it’s time to call a pro for pumping.

Good news: You’ll naturally increase the bacteria in your septic tank simply by using it. If you want to encourage more good bacteria growth, stop using products and household cleaners that kill bacteria, such as bleach and harsh chemicals. Never flush antibiotics, and make sure only water and waste go down the tube—not paper products, feminine hygiene products, or diapers.

Most well pump pressure switches have a factory setting of 30 to 50 PSI. There’s some flexibility with this if you’d like a lower or higher water pressure, but remember that it should sit 2 to 3 PSI above your well tank’s general pressure setting.

The inside of your pressure switch cover will usually indicate minimum and maximum settings—going below and above the numbers might damage your well pump.
