Yes, even a small dishwasher leak is a big deal. While it might seem minor, continuous unnoticed drips can lead to significant water damage to your kitchen floor, subfloor, and cabinetry. This damp environment is also a perfect breeding ground for mold, which can cause health issues and expensive mold remediation. Remember that water and electricity don't mix—having even a small leak poses a potential electrical hazard. Addressing any leak as soon as possible protects your home and avoids costly future repairs.

Water is sitting at the bottom of your dishwasher, likely because the filter is dirty with food debris or because the drain hose has a clog. If the water is still sticking around after following the steps above, it’s time to contact a local plumber.

Repairs typically cost between $150 and $600, depending on the issue, parts needed, and labor charges.

A dishwasher can help save you significant time when it comes to getting your dishes clean. It can also get your dishes more hygienically clean than washing by hand due to higher water temperatures and specialized detergents, effectively sanitizing them and reducing the risk of foodborne illnesses. Compared to hand-washing, a dishwasher typically uses less water and energy to clean the same amount of dishes, making it a more resource-efficient option.
