"Mr. Guss is very professional and courteous. His was the third estimate and best price. Hubby and I did our homework and confirmed Mr. Guss' business is legit on the state contractor website. He gave us two references of established customers who gave very good references over the phone for installation and service after the sale. We checked out the equipment through independent research. Mr. Guss' business checked all the boxes. His staff arrived on time and cleaned up after. Mr. Guss supervised all work after the installation to hubby's satisfaction. Our new system is quieter than the old one and seems very efficient. I highly recommend Mr. Guss and his business. His business is local and established. give him a call!"

Customers say: Quick response

"Brandon, the owner of B&N Plumbing, is the BEST plumber I have ever used in the past 25 years. I had my kitchen renovated and there were 2 plumbing issues of poor “rigged” by 2 previous plumbers that had to be fixed. Brandon showed me the problem and how he could repair the problem. Plumbing works great now. I highly recommend B&N Plumbing. Thank you Brandon!"

"I woke up one morning to a hot house ands got in touch with Air Creations staff and they were out there the same day for a last minute call! Reasonable price, not money hungry, made me feel like a friend instead of a customer, and it was the owner himself that came out and resolved the problem. I was very impressed and will certainly use them again!"

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

Yes, new home construction will always require building permits, no matter where you live. In most cases, you’ll need a general construction permit, along with plumbing and electrical permits for the utility lines in your home. Depending on where you live, you’ll likely find that you also need permits for things like connection to a sewage system or installing exterior components, like decks, driveways, patios, and curb cutouts. Leave navigating the permits required for new home construction to a professional to ensure your home is built legally and safely.

When you think about Arts and Crafts-style homes, you probably think of a Craftsman house or a bungalow-style Craftsman. Craftsman is one of the major styles developed during the Arts and Crafts movement, but it checks most boxes. Craftsman houses have low-pitched roofs, exposed rafters, open floor plans, and stunning wood finish.

If your project is complex, it may make sense to hire an architect to draw plans. An architect might also be a good person to hire if you want to ensure your plans adhere to building codes and regulations.

Professional remodelers streamline the process, manage permits, and handle renovations efficiently—significantly mitigating risk while maintaining standards.

While it’s never too early to start planning for a major home improvement project like a home addition, give yourself at least a month or two to plan and design your addition, find a contractor, and get the permits in order. For larger projects like a second-story addition that require designing with an architect, plan on three to four months of preparation.
