"Review for Pride Services 9/5/18 Wednesday 6 weeks after pride services installs compressor my ac unit fails to cool the house. I discover that Pride fails to change out Filter on small line. Most of this interaction happens via text message the items in quotes are typed exactly as they were sent. • 8:30 AM - I contact Pride and let them know the house is not cooling and he advises me to call HWA (home warranty assoc) and file a recall • 12:56 PM – I Inform Pride the claim has been made and send him a picture of the small line is leaking and sweating at 1 second intervals. 9/6/18 Thursday • Pride informs me he will come inspect the unit on 9/10/18 between 9-10 9/10/18 Monday • 9:58 am – Pride informs me that he will be unable to make it but he will schedule me “ tomorrow around the nine to 10 o’clock range” he is referring to 9/11/18 • I confirm 9/11/18 Tuesday • 10:47 am – I have not heard from Pride and contact them asking “are you still coming today?” • 10:48 am – “yes I am running a tad behind with an inspection. When I hit the 310 Bridge I will call you.” • Pride never shows up or calls. I initiate contact and he tells me he will come 9/12/18 between 7am-8am 9/12/18 Wednesday • 6:56 am – Pride texts me providing me with too much information. “Had a rough night sleeping last night. I am just trying to get out of bed. Be leaving in 15 minutes” • 9:00 am – Pride Arrives, and informs me of a leak in the condenser coil tells me I need to write him another check. • I find this strange that the coil was not leaking 6 weeks prior when Pride originally repaired the unit • Pride tells me he will get back with me in about “an hour or two” about scheduling the install and let me know if the warehouse has the coil. • 5:53 pm – I have not heard from Pride. I initiate contact and ask if he has heard back about the coil. • 5:53 pm – Pride responds “Supply house need to get it in. I should find out tomorrow when it will arrive. I have been given approval by HWA to do everything.” • 7:03 pm – it is 81 degrees in my home and I have 3 small children, 2 are 6 month old babies. I purchase 2 tower fans to put near the cribs. I ask Pride if there is any way he can charge the unit with Freon while we wait for the coil to arrive. • 7:08 pm – Pride responds “I don’t know probably sometime after lunch” 9/13/18 Thursday • 12:03 pm – Pride does not come charge the unit. Tells me “Hey listen will plan on coming tomorrow mid morning ish to change the condenser coil” • 12:10 pm – I ask “ what time” • 6:10 pm – no response from Pride. I ask again for an ETA • 6:11 pm – Pride responds “Sorry been busy. I really don’t have an ETA I have to get the guys lined up then I will go pick up the coil and come there myself. If I had to guess a time range I would think around 10-11 9/14/18 Friday • 11:36 am – Pride has not arrived nor have they contacted me. I initiate contact “Please call or text when you are on your way” • 11:43 am – Pride responds that he had a “crisis” come up and that he will come charge the system with Freon but will not be able to change the coil today. He tell me that he will have to plan to install the coil “next week” • 5:23 pm – Pride arrives and charges unit. He tells me that he will install coil Monday 9/17/18 between 10-11am 9/17/18 Monday • 6:49 am – Pride texts me “we are backed up from work on Saturday unfortunately the install for today will have to be rescheduled let me know what works for you. But you are next on the list” • 7:07 am – I ask “can tomorrow work” • 7:09 am – Pride tells me that they will confirm at time with me today around 3-4pm • 6:59 pm – I text pride and let them know that I still have not received an ETA for tomorrow • 7:47 pm – Pride responds “ Chances are its not going to happen because his dad is in surgery” The rest of the message is very rude from pride service with him telling me he does not have to justify his personal life and that there is no reason to text him back because he wont respond. So i tell him i hope his dad pulls through his surgery"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

The decision to put your AC unit on the roof or ground depends on the climate in your area, the roof shape, accessibility, and budget. If you live in a warm climate or don’t have existing ductwork, it’s likely best to stick to a traditional AC unit that sits on the ground. However, if you lack yard space, live in a mild climate, and have easy access to the roof, your home may benefit from a rooftop AC unit.

Not if you have a standard unit. Because portable AC units actually work to dehumidify the room, you’ll likely need to drain the unit from time to time—but you won’t have to put water into it. There is, however, another type of air conditioner called a swamp cooler that requires water to operate. If you have a swamp cooler, you may need to fill a reservoir with water and potentially ice. But a swamp cooler is different from a standard portable AC unit.

When faced with HVAC issues, it's best to begin by ensuring the thermostat settings are correct for either heating or cooling. If the system isn't responding, check the thermostat for proper function and power supply. It's also important to examine air filters, as clogged ones can decrease performance. Confirm the power supply to the system by checking the circuit breakers and fuses. If these basic steps fail to resolve the issue, contact an HVAC professional for a more detailed diagnosis and repair.

If you don’t clean your AC coils, dirt and debris build up inside your unit, making transferring heat more difficult. As a result, your HVAC system will work harder to run, potentially increasing your energy usage and utility bills. Neglected coils may also become corroded, which can lead to refrigerant leaks and mold growth—both of which can cause a slew of negative health impacts.

Condensation forms when warmer, outside air combines with cooler air in your ductwork. This can happen when there are leaks in your air ducts, your HVAC system has a dirty air filter, or there’s a lack of insulation around the ducts. To prevent it from happening, replace your HVAC filters as directed. Also, once every five years, hire a local air duct cleaner to clean and inspect them.
