Customers say: Super punctual

"They found the fireplace was not installed properly and could not be used. The only negative comment is that they said they would send a written report about the problem and provide info regarding installing an electric or gas fireplace and didn't follow up."

"Eddie and Tina kept in touch with me on starting and completing the job, They were on time, were professional in work and conduct, provided an insurance certificate, were careful with the existing roof, used brick-colored mortar to appear brick-like in color, and water-sealed the completed stucco. Given the location of the work on a 2-story roof, the price was reasonable."

"The workers and office staff were easy to talk to, well informed, courteous , and efficient. They performed a thorough inspection. Recommended and installed a stainless liner and cap for the furnace flue and a new damper on the fireplace flue. Their price was better than previous quotes and even set up a partial payment plan. I am very pleased with the work they did."

"Job called for chimney cleaning and insert cleaning. Very prompt, polite, and knowledgeable and respectful. They put protective covering on the carpet to protect and when job was finished there was no mess. Pricing was very fair in my opinion. I will definitely use them again."

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

The time required for a chimney inspection depends on the inspection level. A Level 1 inspection typically takes between 45 minutes and two hours, with an average of about an hour and a half. A Level 2 inspection usually takes less than two hours. A more in-depth Level 3 inspection can take up to five hours, or even multiple days if it requires removing materials. The total duration also depends on the chimney's size, condition, and how long it has been since its last inspection; chimneys with severe damage will require a longer inspection.

No, you should never leave a fireplace burning overnight or unattended during the day. While fireplaces are made to contain fires, fires can and do spread from fireplaces, so it’s crucial that you’re there to monitor them and put them out if needed. If you’re worried about putting out a fire before bed, stop feeding it fuel long before bedtime and actively put out the fire using your poker, a shovel, and some baking soda.

Yes, you can use an existing chimney with a wood-burning stove if it meets specific requirements. The stove’s vent pipe size must be compatible with the size of your chimney flue. Your contractor can tell you whether your chimney is suitable for installation.

Most homeowners put a layer of compact sand or gravel at the bottom of their firepit, but you can also choose more decorative options like fire-resistant paving stones, bricks, or fire pit glass. Dirt by itself can even work, but other materials do a better job of spreading the heat around.

You can research your fireplace insert or retrofit by checking out the EPA wood stove database. The database includes information, such as a model's emission rate, efficiency, and carbon dioxide output.
