"They did an amazing job on our fence! I called them a week ago and they got the job done in one week from the time he done the estaminet. The pricing was reasonable and the job was done fantastic. My fiancé and I have nothing but good words to say and we are both beyond happy with the results. We have to large dogs who like to dig and they even filled in the holes so that was plus too!"

"We looked for several fencing contractors in our area after suffering a lot of damage after 3 tornados hit our city. We selected DiversifiedFencing Plus based on their quick response and open communication. Their work was exceptional, timely and they fulfilled their contract on time with no issues. We would highly recommend them based on the quality of materials used and timeliness on completion of our privacy fence."

"Everything went really well. One of the things that set Harrison apart was the convenience he offered and the exceptional attention to detail. I had a few specific things I needed done, and we went over different options to get exactly what I wanted. Harrison was very professional, and offered a great price over some of the other quotes I received. I wouldn't hesitate to call him in the future for any other fencing needs I may have."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

The best wood for a farm fence is pressure-treated wood that will stand up to various weather conditions, animal contact, and moisture. Farm fences need to resist rot and damage, so choose a species such as cedar or redwood. The natural oils in these woods give them decay resistance, which also makes them ideal for other fence types, such as a wooden snow fence.

Lattice should not touch the ground, as it creates a possibility for rot and a termite infestation. It’s best to leave a gap of 3 or 4 inches at the bottom for airflow and to keep the wood dry. You can add stones, bricks, or other decorative pieces to conceal the bottom of the lattice if desired.

Wire fences are generally the most inexpensive type of farm fence to install, especially compared to lumber. Barbed wire is one of the cheapest options due to its simple materials, making it a good choice for low budgets and for confining docile animals in large spaces. Other options include hog wire and woven wire fences, which are strong, long-lasting, and relatively easy to repair. While wire fences require less lumber and reduce overall project costs, they are often considered less aesthetically pleasing than traditional wood fences.

How long a wood fence lasts depends on the type of wood and its style. The design of a shadow box fence makes it more durable than other fence types because the alternating pickets disperse the weight across the rails. As a result, you won’t have to worry as much about sagging or failing pickets. However, remember that the hollow design of a shadow box fence makes it more difficult to apply the sealer, which is crucial to extending its life.

Planting greenery on a fence can help achieve more privacy, whether it’s shrubs along a picket or chain link fence or rolls of faux greenery to help create a solid-colored backdrop beyond the fence line. You can also try adding more lattice or paneling across a fence so that there are fewer places where passing eyeballs can see in.
