Customers say: Quick response

"I needed additional grounding for the house's electrical system and a 220V outlet installed. Rodgers Electric provided me with an estimate for the work, and he stuck to that price, which was significantly more manageable compared to other estimates I received. Michael Rodgers and his team came out and got the job done quickly and efficiently. I highly recommend this company for electrical needs."

"I estimate I have just under $100k in electronics and appliances in my house. We have significant lightning storms in my location. To NOT have lightning suppression installed is significant risk in my mind based on my location in New Jersey. RS LIGHTNING PROTECTION was responsive with a quick cost estimate and a reasonable price based on my research for installation. By the way...installation is part art, such as bends in cable are not more than 90 degrees. It's not just about running grounded cables. This installation in conjunction with surge protection on my electrical panel performed by my electrician and cable protection gives me significant piece of mind that all my appliances and electronics are protected from lightning and any potential surge generated by a near strike. Mr Richard Sherlock knows his subject. Highly recommended. Five stars."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Before starting electrical work in Shepherdsville, confirm which permits are needed and check for flood risks if your property is near water. Schedule a service disconnect with your utility provider if required, and inspect for outdated wiring or hazardous materials in older homes. If you live in a subdivision, secure HOA approval for exterior changes, and plan your project timeline around Shepherdsville’s stormy or humid seasons.

Helpful?

In Shepherdsville, overloading outlets with high-wattage appliances—especially during humid summers—can strain your home wiring and increase fire risk. Ignoring early warning signs like buzzing switches or frequent breaker trips allows small issues to worsen. Using extension cords long-term in damp areas, or skipping regular GFCI outlet tests, can expose your system to moisture damage and corrosion, reducing overall electrical safety and longevity.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Shepherdsville should prioritize a professional electrical inspection to identify outdated or unsafe wiring, especially in homes built before 2000. Upgrading to GFCI and AFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms enhances home wiring safety. Installing surge protection and replacing old light fixtures with energy-efficient options also help safeguard your investment and adapt your home to local weather conditions.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Shepherdsville, opt for copper wiring, which resists corrosion in humid conditions. Use THWN-2 wire for any areas exposed to moisture, such as basements or outdoor spaces. Install weatherproof covers on exterior outlets and choose moisture-resistant panels for below-grade rooms. Adding whole-house surge protection and arc-fault circuit interrupters further boosts electrical safety, especially during Kentucky’s frequent storms.

Helpful?

Combining electrical upgrades with other home improvements in Shepherdsville is a practical way to boost efficiency and minimize disruption. For example, coordinate electrical panel upgrades when installing new HVAC systems, or add GFCI outlets during bathroom or kitchen remodels. Pairing electrical work with insulation or generator installation helps address local climate extremes, while improving overall electrical safety and home comfort.
