"Replaced vanity and mirror adding electrical outlet.  Installed ceiling fan and light.  Replaced all bathtub plumbing fixtures.  Installed wall cabinet.  Installed light over the vanity.  Put new plaster finish on walls and ceilings.  All work done in approximately three days.  Complete cleanup when work was finished.  Workman was efficient and knowledgeable about working in a house over 80 years old.

"I highly recommend Icon Solar. They did a thorough analysis plus provided a more power system than the other quote I got (for the same price). The install was easy and the system is working great."

"Fred & Sons did a really amazing job. They came out for a quote within 24 hours of our call, and 2 days later brought a hard working, professional crew to perform all work. At the end of the day they called and let me know that they would be back the next day to clean up the rest of the job and by the next afternoon, all work was completed thoroughly. They came well recommended by a friend and their pricing was below what we were expecting, so we didn't get any other quotes. We will absolutely call them for tree work again!"

"We bought a home to rennovate and needed a good contractor to help with the major projects. John was great from the start. I had 2 companies provide estimates but it was John's knowledge and manner that lead me to work with him. He was patient until we were ready to start and kept in contact. From the first day until the last he kept us informed. We made a few changes along the way and he was flexible. He kept the project within budget and on time. Each of the workers were friendly and professional. I had a problem with the lighting switch in the kitchen after the project was finished, but they came right back within a few days and fixed it.  I would not hesitate to use them again. They will be my first call on any future projects.

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can connect an inverter directly to your solar panels without solar battery storage if your home is connected to the power grid. However, most pros don’t recommend a direct connection because solar panels don’t put out steady voltage. It’s always best to install a charge controller between your solar panel and your inverter to regulate the flow of energy and ensure a stable power supply.

Yes, going solar really saves money. In fact, according to some calculations, the average homeowner who switches from electric to solar power will save almost $2,000 a year on energy costs. While buying solar panels and switching to solar can be costly up front, the savings add up over time. If you can sell back extra energy or take advantage of tax incentives, your savings can be even higher.

Solar panels should get at least four to six hours of direct sunlight daily. It’s even better if sunlight reaches panels between the peak hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. This is enough to power a home, depending on your solar system’s size and energy needs. Remember that panels will generate some power under cloudy skies or in the shade, and many systems compensate for lower sun exposure by drawing energy from the grid or battery storage.

Solar shingles and solar panels are not the same. While solar shingles use the same technology as traditional solar panels, they integrate with your existing roof. That means they are used to build your roof instead of simply resting on top of it. When comparing solar shingles and solar panels, it's helpful to know that solar shingles are more aesthetically pleasing than solar roof panels. They also do better in harsh weather due to limited uplift from strong winds.

It’s possible that installing solar panels can lead to mold on the roof. The panels themselves are not the issue. Problems caused by improper installation—such as roof leaks and mounts that aren’t sealed properly—can cause mold. Another potential cause of mold is debris accumulation under panels, which can trap moisture. If you live somewhere with extreme snow, rain, or hail, your home could be more prone to mold.
