"Indianapolis Concrete repoured some concrete around our pool deck and did a great job. Their project managers and associated people keep in good communication with us about timelines and other details and the crew they sent out to do the work were very efficient and friendly and did a great job on the work we hired them to do. We would absolutely hire them again if we need more concrete work done."

"I highly recommend Level Up concrete repair service. They were knowledgeable and courteous and did exactly what they said they would and at a fair price. They filled in pockets of open space underneath my porch where direct and crush rock had settled and they sanded and filled in the porch cracks with waterproof mortar which came with guarantee for 12 years. My front porch looks much better with all cracks filled in and they also added mortar in the seams of my porch steps and walkway which makes it look much cleaner as well as keep the water from penetrating and causing future cracks. The holes they drilled to insert the material below the porch is barely visible and will keep the cracks from expanding further. They were the most reasonable price of the companies I contacted and very professsional."

"I wanted to wait a bit before reviewing to see how the material has held up and it's been fantastic. LT repaired our flood damaged driveway with TxDOT quality gravel base vs. just junk like some fly-by-night firms. We've had heavy rains in the two weeks since and the base has been almost as firm and dense as concrete! The best thing is the fact that Tim and his brother Ray both are excellent communicators- you are never left wondering about anything. They also discuss the project first and then have a professional final scope of work agreement that you don't sign or pay until then. That tells anyone that they have great relationships with their material providers. They were on time, even with challenging conditions. I AM bringing them back to do our concrete driveway once we get some other key work done."

"They were able to correct the concrete settlement eliminating trip points and areas where water was standing. This was an excellent alternative to replacing the concrete segments where the problem existed."

"The work is fantastic, and the experience was phenomenal. We actually asked Cathy, the owner, to come out and give us an estimate almost a year ago, but then had to make another, more urgent repair and had to wait on this one. When we were ready we contacted Cathy and she sent her crew out to get started. The workers were considerate, clean, and immensely talented at their jobs. They broke up all the old concrete and hauled it away, and set up the framing for the new work. The weather wasn't cooperating so they had to come back a few days later to pour. The new concrete is amazing. We asked for a brush finish and it looks fantastic. They went the extra distance in repairing old areas that time had adversely affected. They encountered a couple of surprises and navigated them flawlessly, and they cleaned everything up at the end of each day. We can see the care they took everywhere we look. We very highly recommend Cathy and her team!"

Concrete Repair questions, answered by experts

A slab-on-grade or slab foundation is a great option in many areas—usually in warm or moderate climates—and has been a successful foundation style for many decades. Slab foundations don’t require excavation or concrete block wall construction, so they’re the least expensive foundation type. They’re also the fastest to construct and don’t have many issues with moisture or water intrusion. However, they don’t give you extra storage space or potential living space like a crawl space or basement would, and they’re not ideal in colder areas where utility lines can freeze and frost heave can cause major damage.

The best foundation repair method will depend on the issue you’re having, but usually, foundation instability is best fixed using supportive piers, like steel piers or helical piers. A professional foundation repair contractor or structural engineer should always decide what the best course of action is, and even then, it’s imperative that you also take measures to treat the underlying issue as well, like soil erosion or oversaturation from runoff.

Ensures structural stability and long-term safety of the building.

Most single-story homes don't have foundations strong enough to support a second story, but they can be reinforced for an addition. A structural engineer can assess your foundation and what needs to be done to get it ready. They'll look at any cracks or unevenness in your current foundation and consider any special framing or beams your home needs, especially if it’s in a high-wind or hurricane area.

“To support a second story, many structural engineers will require that you install additional concrete piers in the crawlspace,” says Tschudi. “This involves hand excavating, pouring a large concrete footing—usually with specially coated rebar—and then building concrete piers right up to the girders.”

If you don’t have any access to or knowledge of any area underneath your home, chances are it’s built slab-on-grade. You can also look for the concrete around the bottom edge of your structure; if it’s just a few inches tall, it’s likely a slab. If it’s more than that, has any windows, or you have steps leading to your main entrance, you likely have a different foundation style.
