Small jobs welcome

"We were unhappy with a former service we had used for several years. We had problems with our lawn that were largely ignored. We decided to try Lawn Doctor. They are reasonably priced, extremely. Knowledgeable, and very responsive. Since the first service call, weâ ve already seen vast improvement in our lawn."

"very professional.  Described the process and the fees for the trapping. Came back the next day and removed the skunk and trap.  Reset the trap in case there were more than one skunk.  Came back two days in a row to check and concluded that we had only one resident at our hose.  We have seen none since.  I would highly recommend Groen's for rodent/pest removals.

"It was good. For pest control, I did Ketchum. It was excellent. They did what they needed to have done that I was afraid to do myself. I'm afraid to go spraying the yellow jackets. They're not real close to where I live. My friend said she thought that was high-priced because she had ants service done for $125. I'm thinking ants and yellow jackets, we're dealing with two different kinds. I didn't find it on Angie's Lit so I had to pay what their service was."

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

In Lowell, pest control success hinges on addressing local conditions like high groundwater, dense vegetation, and proximity to farmland, which can attract field mice and carpenter ants. Consistent quarterly treatments help manage recurring issues, but clearing brush near foundations and maintaining dry basements are unique local steps that can extend the effectiveness of your pest control efforts.

Helpful?

For new homeowners in Lowell, begin with a thorough inspection of crawl spaces and attics for signs of rodents or bats, which are common locally. Seal exterior cracks, especially near utility lines and foundation vents. Schedule a termite inspection within your first year, and consider a perimeter treatment to deter pests migrating from nearby fields or wetlands, especially before the colder months set in.

Helpful?

When planning pest control in Lowell, consider restrictions on pesticide use near the Kankakee River and local wetlands. Homes with wells or septic systems require special treatment methods to avoid contamination. Service availability may be limited in rural areas, so book ahead. Coordinating with neighbors can help manage pests migrating between properties, and documenting infestations supports any future insurance claims.

Helpful?

For minor pest concerns in Lowell, promptly clean up food crumbs, use borax-based ant baits in inaccessible spots, and seal small gaps with weather-resistant caulk. Running a dehumidifier in basements helps deter silverfish and spiders, while peppermint oil can discourage mice. If you discover mud tubes, large nests, or animal noises in walls, it’s time to contact a local pest control professional.

Helpful?

In Lowell, if you notice sawdust piles near baseboards, gnaw marks on pantry items, or droppings in corners, these are strong indicators of pest activity requiring pest control. If you see warped wood or buckling floors, address any pest infestation first, as pests like termites or rodents often cause this damage, then follow up with structural repairs to prevent future issues.
