2 employees. Uses subs for installing drywall, applications & general contracting. Cost is determined upon set footage & hourly rate. Ask about the Angie's List discount.

"The reason I contacted Bowersock originally was because of these great reviews...He responded to me quickly and I hired him..Ours was a total kitchen remodel..Even some structural changes..He brought with him a man to give an estimate for new cabinets..He turned out to be a great guy who did amazing work...As the work began and progressed, Kevin was easy to work with and he did fine work..He would even go the extra mile, here and there...He sub-contracted our porcelain tile floor, and paid them from the total of our contract with him...It looked very nice, when completed...The job finished and we had a lovely kitchen..We were very pleased..The job finished in early July, 2016.. So why the low rating?..We are still entangled with Kevin Bowersock..About 2 months after the job finished, the grout in our new floor began to crack and even break out...I informed Kevin, and then contacted the company, Local Hands, who had done the tile..They were very slow to get back to me, but finally did and in November 2016 a man from Local Hands came by and looked at the floor...He absolutely agreed that it needed to be fixed...They finally arrived to re-grout in January 2017...Within 6 weeks the tile began to crack again...I emailed Kevin to let him know of the issue and tried to contact Local Hands..They have never again responded to me... Of course, I had to go back to Kevin with this issue..The tile needed to be fixed and it was ultimately his responsibility...I sent emails back and forth with Kevin between March and August of 2017, with no resolution.. Many emails later, in December 2017, Kevin got back to me and we agreed to address the issue the first of 2018...Many emails later I heard from Kevin in March...No resolution... In April of this year, we had a flooring company come to remove and replace the tile, properly...That, nearly 2 years after the tile was originally done..The cost was $3,252.31...We paid for our tile floor twice...Kevin ignores most emails...He finally called me in July, he acknowledged that the cost was his responsibility and offered a payment monthly, until it was paid..We got the first payment almost immediately and nothing since...And again, he ignores my emails... Kevin does very good work, unless something goes wrong..Then, I wish you good luck..I suppose we will end up in court.."

Hiring a builder or contractor will be the most important thing you do when taking on a large project like building a custom home or renovating your existing home. Please proceed cautiously and make sure you feel 100% comfortable with whomever you hire. This can best be achieved by asking the right questions and thoroughly getting to know the company and people you will be working with. No one walks into a job interview and starts negotiating money up front. Hiring a builder should be no different. Before you discuss costs, first make sure you are working with a qualified builder. Blue Door Builders will do everything to make sure your project is a fun and an exciting experience, one that you will remember fondly for years to come. Please feel free to ask us about our past projects or for more client referrals. Custom Exteriors is in business to provide fairness in an industry that often takes advantage of consumers, to provide quality home improvement products and services to customers, and to provide financial and other support to the employees of Custom Exteriors and their families.

"My experience with Custom Exteriors was nothing short of dreadful. Our sales rep Kyle came out sat at our kitchen table and gave us an estimate to completely reside our house, pre-painted James Hardi board and batten, new soffits, gutter boards and gutters. We received 3 other quotes and even though their quote was the more by $5000 we went with them because we thought we could trust them to complete high quality work with a high quality product in a timely manner. We based this off the reviews online and word of mouth from people in our community. Materials were dropped off the second week of January and work commenced. The crew that showed up to our house and noticed they didn’t drive customer exteriors trucks but wore their apparel. We later we found out that they don’t actually work for them but were sub contractors, we weren’t made aware of this till after the fact. When your trusting someone with your home you expect a modicum of transparency. I wanted Custom exteriors to work on my house not some random siding crew. After work was completed per our foreman we walked through the project and what was on our house looked like used siding installed by people who either weren’t skilled enough to complete the task or didn’t care enough to take the time to do it right. The large pre-painted panels had large sections of paint scraped off due to mishandling of materials, over 90% of the house still needed caulked in, areas above windows and doors that appeared no one knew how to use a tape measure, square or cut in a straight line. The crew came back out to fix the issues but only corrected a few things. We then walked through the project with Kyle and Tom. This is where Kyle blamed our product choice of the pre-painted Hardi as the cause of all our issues, not the fact that the installers dragged the panels off the pile damaging finished surfaces or marking up panels with pencil and not cleaning it off. I feel it’s worth noting that we paid an extra $10,000 for pre-painted so we didn’t have to paint the house. After the 4th time of guys coming out to work on our house to “fix” the issues we contacted our foreman and requested the owner to look at the house. Matt came out to look at the house and by the initial tone of the conversation it was evident that he had been told our concerns weren’t valid. After the walk through and seeing all the issues he had a different view and asked for the opportunity to make it right. I will hand it to Matt. He did come and spend a few weeks out personally working on the house to correct the issues that hadn't been resolved, but it did take FOUR separate times over 3 and a half MONTHS of crews stating the job was done to get there. Unfortunately after a few hard rains we did find that we had two windows upstairs leaking due to the first installer's. The window trim was holding water to the house and not allowing it to shed. We fortunately had opened up one wall already to fix issues from old windows, but in our freshly redone nursery the damage was done. We had to remove all the completed trim, bead board, and drywall under the window and found mold had already formed. I never asked for a discount for all this trouble or the damage caused but honestly held out hope they might as a goodwill gesture. When Kyle brought our final invoice it was for the full amount, when questioned he was surprised that we would ask for a discount…..He then went on to state that they lost money on the job due to all the extra man hours they had to put in to fix all the issues. Then went on again blaming our product choice and not the hacks your company allowed to work on my house who caused all the issues in the first place. When you trust someone with your home and a lot of money you expect it to be right the first time or at least the second…..not the 5th."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Indianapolis’s cold winters and humid summers require insulation service projects to focus on moisture management and proper attic ventilation. High R-value attic insulation is essential to combat temperature swings and reduce energy loss. Scheduling installation during spring or fall helps avoid extreme weather that can affect insulation materials. Effective insulation also helps prevent ice dams and controls humidity, protecting your home year-round.

Helpful?

During insulation service projects in Indianapolis, homeowners often encounter extra costs for air sealing if gaps or leaks are discovered, or for installing a vapor barrier to manage moisture. Additional expenses may arise if old insulation needs removal, if attic or crawlspace access must be improved, or if electrical wiring and ductwork require adjustments. Mold remediation or pest control can also become necessary after opening up walls or attics.

Helpful?

In Indianapolis, you’ll find full-service insulation contractors for comprehensive upgrades, HVAC professionals who integrate insulation with system improvements, and energy efficiency specialists who conduct audits and weatherization. Spray foam experts focus on high-performance solutions, while general contractors handle insulation during remodels. Weatherization contractors often participate in local assistance programs, helping homeowners access upgrades that improve comfort and energy savings.

Helpful?

If your Indianapolis home has inconsistent indoor temperatures, frequent drafts, or rising energy bills, it’s likely a strong candidate for insulation service projects. Homes with less than six inches of attic insulation, visible gaps around windows or doors, or signs of moisture buildup should be evaluated. Properties built before 1980 or with recent additions often benefit from an energy audit or professional insulation inspection.

Helpful?

When hiring insulation service pros in Indianapolis, look for contractors with proven experience in local climate conditions and a track record of quality attic insulation work. Ensure they carry proper insurance, provide detailed written estimates, and offer warranties. Ask about their approach to air sealing and ventilation, and request local references. A thorough cleanup and clear communication about project timelines are also important.
