Small jobs welcome

"I had BC Enterprises blow in insulation in my attic. They did an excellent job of blowing in 16 inches of pink insulation. They cleaned up very well and couldn't even tell they were here. They also fixed a couple of leaked around my chimney and one at the back door. I will definitely use them in the future as they are very friendly and do fantastic work!!"

"The owner came out and offered a fair estimate. He was polite and thorough. We scheduled an installation date/time and two very polite workers showed up on time and got to work. They were courteous and cleaned up after themselves, using a shop-vac on the stairs. You couldn't tell they had been there. Efficient, courteous, and fair price."

"Chris was great to work with. I hired them to blow insulation in my attic. He explained everything that was going to be done and I felt good knowing things were going to be done right and up to code. The cost was also affordable. They came in and weren’t disruptive at all as I was able to continue working in my home office while they were there. I would recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish System) siding can last from 20 to 60 years, with some properly maintained systems lasting even longer. The exact lifespan depends heavily on several factors, most notably the quality of the initial installation and the consistency of maintenance.

Factors that can shorten the life of EIFS include:

  • Improper or poor-quality installation

  • Moisture intrusion

  • Damage from high winds, storms, or hail

  • Damaged flashing and sealant

  • Lack of regular maintenance and unfixed damage

To maximize the lifespan of your EIFS, it is crucial to hire an experienced and qualified professional for the installation. Additionally, regular maintenance—such as cleaning, repairing small cracks or blisters, and having the system professionally inspected—will help identify and resolve issues quickly, preventing long-term damage.

Through R-value assessments based on climate and existing insulation.

Ductwork should be wrapped in insulation in certain locations. This includes unconditioned interior parts of the home, such as attics, crawl spaces, basement ceilings, and between floors. Duct joints should also be insulated since they're more likely to leak air than other parts of your system. Building codes in some areas also require ductwork to be insulated.

Pipes in your house can freeze after six hours or so if you lose power and temperatures are below freezing. You can prepare for potential power outages by winterizing your pipes with insulation. Also, whenever temperatures drop below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, turn your faucets on very low and leave them dripping until temperatures rise.

Insulating ducts prevent or significantly reduce condensation by reducing temperature differences between the duct surface and surrounding air. Proper insulation also minimizes sweating, improves energy efficiency, and prevents moisture damage. However, if humidity levels are unusually high or there are air leaks, additional measures like sealing ducts and using a dehumidifier may be needed.
