"This was siding replacement for the second level of a 2 story house (first level is brick). UHQ was selected because of the positive reviews and the cost was less than other quotes. Though it seemed like a lot of money, seeing how much labor is involved in siding replacement, I now feel like we got a great deal. The Fiber-cement was replacing original wood siding. There was about a 2 month gap between agreeing on the work and the work beginning, due to scheduling and it being over the winter. We received regular updates on the materials being ordered while we were waiting for the start date. Once the work started, we received regular contact from the company, to assure the work was going as expected. The gentlemen who did the work were fantastic. Most of them only spoke Spanish, but we were able to figure out communication. I was truly amazed as how hard those men worked, and how late in to the evening they went. Their work ethic is something to be admired. The work took about 2 weeks, with some work being done on the weekends. Considering the amount of work that was done, this was very reasonable. In the end, the house looks much better, with every gap caulked. This is a company that is seems to be working to build a reputation by giving the customers a quality, properly installed product for a fair price."

They cleaned up after they were done and we've had tons of compliments about the new look of our house. Had one issue to fix and they came back and addressed as promised. "It’s now been 9 months since they completed the job and I have yet to find defects. If you want a professional, knowledgeable - "no pressure-take the time you need to decide" sales process….quality work done, excellent communication, and prompt follow up ensuring everything is done to your satisfaction -- then hire Tom Pantzer/JD Hostetter. My wife was home with our 3 kids while the installation was done over the course of a week, and she was very comfortable with the crew. His site foreman Tony genuinely cared about getting the job done right, and had a great working relationship with his crew. They worked hard and didn't waste time. I also know why Tom wasn't the cheapest. The cheapest guys we talked with seemed to care most about "we do more jobs than anyone and get them done fast..." Tom wasn't the most expensive either - he was fair and honest from start to finish. Bottom line - you get what you pay for. Nobody likes spending thousands of dollars on siding, but we feel relieved we won’t be spending thousands more to fix shoddy work down the road. We found/called Tom only because of his great reviews on Angie's List, and are glad we did."

"Did not know extent of damage until wood was uncovered. Could have been really bad. Wood fixed without removal of aluminum siding. Chad was the carpenter who was professional and polite. Like most problems, had to call in mason to fix loose and sagging bricks. Mason quoted $325.00 then charged another $50.00 for materials? Didn't argue since mason was quick to come out. Mason took little over an hour for job. Overall it is always difficult to go through house repairs. A lot of anxiety. Felt OK with everything and Chad was great and wonderful to work with. Work took about three days to complete. But there was a lot of uncovering and wood replacing. When you write the check and don't feel screwed, it was a good job! Would use again!!! Glad I checked Angie's List and found them!"

"Weather was part of the delay. we were told by the salesman, that there would be a member of upper management present whenever the roofers were there working. that didn't happen. We were told that the greatest care would be taken to assure that all the roofing nails would be picked up and that materials would be thrown in an onsite dumpster. We are still picking up nails around the house and the garage. We have horses and goats and can not afford for them to pick up a nail in their hooves!!!! we had a magnet on a roller that disappeared while the workers were there so had to buy another one to clean up the nails.... had to have them come back out to fix a leak inside the house because they didn't do something right in the familyroom ceiling area on the roof. the splashing around the chimney is done sloppy. they had to come back and do the rolled rubber roof on the enclosed porch and finally came and did that after we had to call them twice...
Hopefully if there is ever a need for these types of services again there will be more options available to us in our area. so many of the companys we really wanted to use were so busy they just couldn't get to us and cold weather months were coming fast so we had to settle. another thing we were told by the salesman was that the company would deal with the mortgage company and the insurance company to get their payment. Well, we had to do it all and that might have been because the mortgage company we have is so slow at returning checks for services so I will give the House Mechanic's the benefit of the doubt on that one. we started the whole process in may 2012 and didn't get our roof's done until the end of the year.
