"Bluestone came out to remove an asbestos wrapping on a pipe. They arrived on time, were very cordial and professional, and finished within the specified time frame. They cleaned everything up afterwards and did a great job. They also refered me to an air testing specialist and took care of all the permit work for me. I would recommend them to anyone who needs this kind of work to be done."

"They were one of two companies I contacted for the removal of asbestos tile I discovered in my basement after tearing out old carpet. Since encapsulating wasn't an option for me, I decided to have it removed. They came out same day to quote the project and were able to start the work the following week. Aside from being less expensive than the other company, their ability to start the project that quickly was a huge selling point for me. Once the project began, the workers were professional and took all the necessary steps to contain the asbestos and make me feel safe about being in my home. The left the area extremely clean and they even provided an air quality test after finishing the project, which is something the other company did not include in their quote. Overall, very happy with this company."

"Francisco explained the removal process to my parents. He provided documentation showing he was a certified and licensed asbestos remover. He showed up on time, protected the area and monitored the air. The removal process went well and the price was fair. I would use them again and recommend them to anyone.

"Everybody was very efficient and amazing to deal with. The process was very quick without giving up quality of work. Took the time to clean up. Very satisfied from sales with Andy, to production with Lauren and Devan. Devan even went onto roof to remove our antenna from our chimney. I highly recommend Home Genius Exteriors and their team of professional employees. You wonâ  t be disappointed in anyone you work with. Quality work from quality people."

"I had damage from wind and raccoons on the soffit, fascia, and roof of my house. Laz Call Construction did a great job repairing all 3. Some other contractors I contacted didn’t do small repair jobs. Laz Construction came out in less than a week after I contacted them."

"My husband and I hired Chicago Asbestos & Mold Removal Professionals for asbestos that was found in our attic. Rogelio was my main point of contact and he was on top of things from start to finish. He described the entire process and seemed reasonably priced in comparison to other places. They were even able to complete the 2 day project in 1 day! I HIGHLY recommend hiring them for your project needs in relation to asbestos and mold. 😁"

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

According to the National Cancer Institute, asbestos-related diseases can take anywhere from 10 to 40 years for symptoms to appear. The health risks increase with prolonged and heavier exposure. Risk factors also include:

  • Amount of exposure

  • Chemical makeup, size, and shape of the asbestos fibers

  • Length of time a person is exposed to asbestos

  • Genetic factors

  • Source of exposure (direct exposure or secondhand exposure from someone directly exposed)

Performing abatement for asbestos means the contractor removes or encapsulates the asbestos to protect your family’s health. The term abatement refers to the steps required to keep asbestos fibers from moving into the air. Understanding what asbestos abatement is can help you discuss the case with your contractors by understanding the jargon they use.

Whether or not to buy a home containing asbestos is ultimately a decision for the homebuyer, and there are several things to consider. When in good condition and contained, asbestos is unlikely to present a health risk—it’s when those tiny fibers are loose and airborne that they become a problem. Consider any renovations you plan on doing to the home that could disturb existing asbestos and the cost of removal. If an inspection finds asbestos in a home on the market, you could negotiate with the seller for a lower price, though this isn’t a sure thing.

Often found in old insulation, tiles, and roofing materials in pre-1980s buildings.

Asbestos encapsulation is an alternative to asbestos abatement or removal. Suppose you have hired an asbestos testing service and they recommend encapsulation. In that case, they will cover the asbestos with a protective barrier or put it in a sealed enclosure so the fibers cannot escape. Encapsulation usually costs between $2 and $6 per square foot.
