"Mr. Jim Gorman who is the owner of the business called me back within a half hour of my email posting. He visited my home 3 days later, inspected things, and told me what the approximate cost would be. He and his helper then installed an entire lightning protection system on both my house and a back garage/storage area. He did things exactly as I wanted in every way. Also threw in a free weathervane which increased the beauty of my home. I would have no objection to recommending this gentleman and his company to anyone who is in need of a competently installed lightning protection system for their home/property. MID-AMERICA LIGHTNING RODS is one fine company run by a man who cares about doing good work according to the latest safety codes etc. Having lost my previous retirement home to lightning, it was very important to me to get this job done and quickly because the thunderstorm season is upon us and with the climate change, those storms are very wicked, especially here out in the country where i live!"

"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For minor electrical issues in Quincy, you can safely replace light bulbs, reset tripped breakers, or swap out outlet covers—always turning off power at the breaker and using a voltage tester first. Never attempt repairs during storms or on the main panel. If you notice persistent breaker trips, burning odors, or warm outlets, stop immediately and contact a licensed Quincy electrician for a thorough inspection.

Helpful?

When comparing quotes in Quincy, be wary of vague estimates, unusually low prices, or requests for full payment upfront. Reliable electrical contractors should offer clear breakdowns, provide local references, and be willing to discuss Quincy’s building codes. Avoid anyone who hesitates to pull permits or pushes you to sign quickly. Choose professionals experienced with Quincy’s older homes and moisture-related electrical issues for safer results.

Helpful?

In Quincy, electrical contractors often specialize in residential wiring, commercial electrical systems, or industrial projects like factories and farms. Some offer 24/7 emergency electrical repairs, while others focus on solar panel installation, smart home upgrades, or generator maintenance. Look for contractors familiar with Quincy’s historic homes and local weather, as they’ll understand unique wiring challenges and moisture concerns common in the area.

Helpful?

Before starting electrical work in Quincy, confirm you have all required permits and allow extra time for approval, especially during busy seasons. Contact local utility companies early if you need service changes, and schedule a utility marking before any digging. Review Quincy’s building codes for older homes and plan around seasonal storms or flooding. Document your project with photos and notify your insurance provider to ensure coverage.

Helpful?

To boost electrical safety in Quincy homes, install tamper-resistant outlets and GFCIs, especially in kitchens, bathrooms, and basements prone to moisture. Use outlet covers and secure cords to prevent pet chewing or tripping hazards. Consider whole-house surge protection due to frequent storms, and opt for moisture-resistant fixtures in lower levels. Regularly test smoke detectors and schedule annual electrical safety checks for added peace of mind.
