"We had an excellent rental house with a worn out asphalt shingle roof that became damaged in a windstorm and started leaking. Trenton black and quality roofing pro came to our rescue and were timely and professional in their assistance. The job was reasonably priced and completed quickly. Cleanup was great. Follow up was excellent."

"We hired The Other Guys Construction for drywall and painting services in our baby's nursery, and we are so glad we did! I am very OCD and meticulous, so home repairs are always very stressful for me, but I was so impressed by the job they did and how nice they were to work with. We ran into a situation after we had already paid where I noticed some spots that needed touchups (the room has very bad lighting), and they were kind enough to come back and fix it free of charge. That said a lot to us about the way they do business... they take pride in their work and have a lot of integrity as a company. We will definitely be utilizing their services again and recommending them to all of our friends."

"THE GOOD   The interview went very well. I had a list of questions as to how the work would be performed and Mike answered the questions with confidence in every part of the job. After talking to him I felt comfortable believing the job would be done correctly.  We talked about materials and agreed on a price that was comparable to other bids. I told him I was not in a hurry. A different contractor said it would be 6 weeks so I guess in my mind I thought work would start in about that time frame. To be fair, Mike never gave me a start date.  This all happened in the middle of May.
THE BAD   It took a week before we picked shingle brand and color and I paid an $8000 payment. 2 large pallets of materials arrived in the first week of June. The next communication with Mike was the last week of June with him saying the weather had slowed him down. The next contact was the middle of July. Mike said it would be a little longer. I contacted him again at the end of August and he said he was heading my way soon. I contacted him middle of Sept. and was told 2 weeks weather permitting. After 2 weeks Mike texted me saying it would be longer.  I replied with concerns about the material being on pallets in my yard for 4 months and gave him 3 weeks to start work or refund my payment minus material costs. He replied he had the permit and would start work the first week of Oct. Dumpster arrived on a Monday 8 days later. Some wood was dropped off on Friday. Work started the next Friday.
MORE GOOD   Once the crew was here they did a great job. They protected my and the neighbors house during tear off and cleaned up every day. After tear off we discovered the addition roof tie in needed to be corrected which was outside the original bid. Mike rebuilt that and it looks and functions great. He did a lot of extras like disposing of some junk I had and putting some bolts in the front porch for a swing. He also partially roofed the playhouse to match the house(untill he ran out of shingles).I was very happy with the work.
MORE BAD  A week later I requested a paid in full invoice for taxes and the playhouse roof to be finished and Mike said he would take care of it.
It's been 7 weeks and still no invoice or finished roof on the playhouse.
FINAL WORD   If you want a quality job and have no time pressure then I recommend Mike. This was a 2 1/2 story hip roof and was not an easy job and took over 7 days to complete. That may have figured in to to delay. All in all it's been a roller coaster ride. He probably would have gotten here sooner if his Angies list A rating (and rightfully so in most cases) wouldn't have increased his business so much.

Roofing questions, answered by experts

In Quincy, combining roofing projects with siding replacement, gutter installation, or attic insulation upgrades is a smart way to maximize contractor availability and minimize weather-related disruptions. Since many homes in Quincy have older exteriors, coordinating these upgrades can better protect against local wind and hail. Bundling projects also streamlines scheduling and often results in a more cohesive look for your home’s exterior.

Helpful?

Completing roofing projects in Quincy, IL offers immediate protection from heavy rain and hail, while improving your home’s energy efficiency and comfort. Over time, a new roof can extend the lifespan of your home’s structure, reduce maintenance needs, and boost property value. Quality roofing in Quincy, IL also helps prevent costly water damage and may even make your home more attractive to future buyers.

Helpful?

For Quincy homeowners, signs like missing shingles, curling edges, or granule buildup in gutters can signal bigger roofing problems ahead. Watch for water stains on ceilings after storms, sagging rooflines, or moss growth, as these often worsen with the region’s freeze-thaw cycles. Addressing these issues early helps prevent structural damage and keeps your Quincy roof ready for unpredictable Midwest weather.

Helpful?

In Quincy, roofing projects often feature architectural shingles for their curb appeal and resilience against Midwest storms. Metal roofing is increasingly popular for its energy efficiency and ability to shed snow. Homeowners favor cool roofing technology to combat summer heat, and impact-resistant materials are chosen to withstand hail. Styles that complement Quincy’s historic homes, like colonial and ranch, remain in high demand.

Helpful?

Most roofing projects in Quincy, IL are completed in 2-4 days for standard homes, but larger or steep roofs may take up to a week. Factors like weather delays, permit approval, and the complexity of the roof design can extend timelines. It’s common to schedule contractors several weeks in advance, especially during peak roofing season, so plan accordingly to avoid unexpected delays.
