"We recently had our water softener replaced and couldn’t be happier with the experience. The price was very fair, the installation was quick and professional, and everything works great. Kris was especially wonderful to work with — very nice, honest, and helpful throughout the whole process. Highly recommend!"

"The sales rep took several water testsâ ¦ The sales rep took several water tests and showed me the results. She told me that I needed more than just a water softener. I also needed a system to address the rust and iron in my well water. I did not want to spend a fortune but the sales lady was pretty convincing. The price was good and the workmanship was excellent. My water is clean again ! Now I can tackle the original problem. My toilet has bad rust stains. I will either get it clean, or replace it. I could not do this until the water was fixed."

"We hired Aquatico to replace our 18 year old water treatment system after we started to experience low water pressure issues. In installing our new system, Tim and Ryan discovered that silt and sand were coming into our old system from our well. Tim and Ryan reached out to Will County Well & Pump to assess the issue. As it turned out, our well cap was cracked and a new well had to be drilled. Three weeks later, we had a new well. After the plumber cleared our pipes of sand, Tim came to our house to hook up the system. As it turned out, there was still a clog - silt and sand remained in the pipes that led to the water treatment system. Tim told us that he wouldnâ t leave our house until we had water. Tim stayed at our house until 8pm that night, carrying buckets of water with sand and silt out of our basement and dumping them outside, until the clog was fixed. Tim went over and above what anybody in his position would be expected to do. We are so grateful for Tim's hard work. We cannot recommend Aquatico enough."

"I had 2 frost-free hydrants installed on my farm for my livestock and could not be happier with the results. This company installed them exactly where I needed them and had water flowing in less than a day."

"Tony did a great job going over the water treatment system and hot water system that best fit our home. He is very knowledgeable about the product lines they provide. Was an easy choice for us to proceed with the purchase and installation of the equipment."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Replacing a water softener costs $200 to $6,000, depending on the capacity of the water softener, the type of water softener, and the amount of people living in your home. An ion exchange water softener is the most common type and costs $500 to $3,000. Water distillers, which cost $1,200 to $4,000, and dual-tank models, which cost $1,000 to $5,000, are definitely pricey, but they offer more filtration or capacity, respectively.

The main difference between a water softener and a water filter is what they remove from the water. A water softener is specifically designed to remove hard minerals, while a filter removes a wider range of contaminants above a certain size, such as bacteria and other impurities. If your primary goal is to remove minerals, a softener is the best choice. If you want to remove various contaminants for safety or taste, a filter is more suitable. Filters are also typically less expensive to install. Depending on your water supply's specific issues, you may need to install both systems for comprehensive treatment.

The most effective way to fix hard water in your shower is by installing a whole-home water softening system. This system treats water as it enters your home, removing the minerals that cause hardness before they can reach your shower or any other fixtures. While this is the most comprehensive solution, other methods are often temporary fixes. For a more affordable and shower-specific option, you can install a water-softening showerhead or a shower filter. However, these filters are generally less effective and may not remove all the contaminants that lead to limescale and hard water stains. By implementing a water softening solution, you can expect a reduction in mineral deposits and enjoy the benefits of cleaner-feeling hair and skin.

Generally, it is safe to bathe in yellow water, as the color is often caused by iron, tannins, or rust, which won't harm your skin. Soap will still clean you effectively, though the water might leave stains. However, if the water has an unusual smell or you suspect contamination, avoid bathing and contact a plumber for an inspection. A professional can also help if you find bathing in yellow water problematic and want to determine how to get your water clear again.

Softener systems extend appliance life spans, improve skin and hair health, and reduce pipe buildup by removing minerals like calcium and magnesium.
