"The entire process went pretty well. Bob (sales) called ahead of the appointed time in order to arrive early (yea!), and the installation team (JJ and two younger guys) arrived a bit earlier than expected (yea!). They quickly moved my big furniture and removed the old carpeting and pad. About seven hours later I had brand new carpeting to walk on! After I thoroughly vacuumed the new carpeting I didn't find any real problems except for one visible "seam peak" in the main floor area (and I believe this may become less visible over time)."

"

We have used Exposition Carpet for several carpet installations over many years in our finished basement, and have consistently found the best pricing, ease of schedule and quality installation thru them. I especially like that it's a family business and you are dealing directly with owners and not with a salesman that doesn't even know who his/her boss is. The installers have worked their for years and that says a lot.

After going through a back porch remodel enclosing to a mudroom, we wanted a pet friendly, water resistant and durable floor so we went with vinyl plank. The store had many options, and time frame to get material was within a week. We checked out a 'sale' prior at a trendy well known Lincoln Avenue store, only to be met with double the cost and attitude. So we ended up back at Exposition and it was a done deal within 2 weeks.

I thought I had reviewed them on AL, but realized I hadn't when the list asked if members had any feedback.

We wouldn't hesitate to use them for any flooring needs.

"Mitchell came in and inspected my floor. He told me exactly what job they where going to on my floor. He explained everything thoroughly to me. He was also very helpful in helping me pick a color. He was very professional and very personable. I felt comfortable going ahead with the project."

"Adrian and his team did a phenomenal job demoing our current floor & installing new luxury vinyl flooring. He kept our house extremely clean all considering ripping up tile & wood. He also continued to keep my wife and I in the loop on day to day work & revised time frames as we went. He is a master at his craft and we couldn’t be happier how our new floor & staircase came out!"

"Daniel understood we had a very tight timeline to complete the refinishing of our floors and he and his team responded appropriately. They arrived early every morning and scheduled there work so they could return to apply more than one coat of stain a day. The floor, which was installed in 1980 was refinished perfectly. It looks better than new. The team from DAC Flooring was professional, courteous and skillful and we're already looking forward to our next project with them."

Customers say: Quality work

"I recently contracted with Clark Flooring to refinish my existing red oak floors and install new floors on the second floor.à  à  The existing floors were of multiple periods and styles.à  à  Bill, through his craftmanship was able to bring all the floors to one great, consistent look.à  à  We chose a very difficult grey stain and he pulled it off.à  à  The floors look great and we have already received many compliments. Bill is very easy to work with and is open to questions and over communicates.à  à  For a contractor on a big project, over communication is a tremendous virtue.à  à  We were well informed every step of the way on a multi-week project.à  à  He is very accommodating and we were able to stay in our home during the project saving hundreds of dollars. I highly recommend Clark floor Finishers.à  à  His work is of high craftmanship and quality and is reasonably priced!"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

The rule of three for flooring means that you should have a maximum of three flooring types throughout your home, such as hardwood in your bedroom and living room and tile in your kitchen and bathroom. The rule brings cohesion to your home and creates a seamless look. By using the same material, you also save money on future repairs.

Most cities accept old carpet as bulk trash, typically without any nails or glue on the base of the carpet. You may be required to request a specific pickup and wrap the carpet into specific bags. You can also visit your local recycling center and pay a small fee to have the carpet materials recovered.

What a buyer prefers usually depends on the home’s layout and which material fits the current aesthetic. The local real estate market can also dictate these desires to some extent, as do the buyer’s personal preferences. With that said, laminate can increase the resale value of a home by a tiny bit, whereas carpet does not. Hardwood increases the resale value by the highest amount.

Technically, you can start tiling in a corner and work your way out. However, it's not traditionally how tiling is done. Instead, work from the bottom middle of the wall. Tile out the entire row with whole tiles before moving on to the next row. Once you finish installing all of the whole tiles, then you focus on tiling the corners.

New carpet installation offers warmth, comfort, and aesthetic appeal. It can improve indoor air quality by trapping dust particles and provides a sound-dampening effect, which is beneficial for creating quiet environments.
