"Dave was on time, courteous and quietly and efficiently did high quality work. We still need to do the radon test but definitely happy with the quality of work. Will update the review once we have been able to complete the independent radon testing. Thanks!"

"Schan did a great job, very professional. He came out to see what the job was before he gave me a quote. I have a huge crawl space which took some time but he stuck with it to finish it in one day. Now I can breathe easier knowing it's taking care of right. I highly recommend Clean Air Radon Systems."

Small jobs welcome

"Mat is the inspector realtors hate... tongue-in-cheek. He is extremely knowledgeable, has great attention to detail, and is very honest. If there is something wrong with the property, you better believe he's going to find it. He takes the time and does a thorough job. I highly recommend him!"

"I had been working with another radon mitigation company. The owner seemed knowledgeable, but after coming to the house for the estimate he ghosted me. So I called Professional Radon Systems. They were wonderful to work with. They arrived at the scheduled time, told me what needed to be done, and made an appointment to do it. Two fantastic young men showed up when they said they would, did the work, explained everything, and that was that. Great company! I appreciate the professionalism and the high quality work."

"This business was highly recommended by my realtor. I hired this company to inspect the radon mitigation system prior to me buying a house. The owner, Sidad, was very responsive to my inquiries. The inspection price was reasonable, and he followed up promptly with the results on the inspection. I hired him to come out and fix the radon mitigation fan after purchasing my house. He was quick and efficient, and the price was reasonable. I highly recommend this business."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Many radon fans carry a five-year manufacturer's warranty. That said, your radon fan should last between five and ten years. Regular inspections will ensure the fan is operating properly. Unusual or exceptional noise coming from the fan or indications on your manometer or system monitor can immediately tell you that something is amiss.

The soil beneath your house is most likely what’s causing an increased level of radon. This is because soil holds radioactivity for a long time and it’s also what most buildings are built on. Another common source of radon is water from a source that hasn’t been through periodic radon tests, such as well water. Over time, the radon from the soil can inhabit other parts of your house like the foundation or plumbing.

The cost to replace a radon fan ranges from $300 to $600 for the fan itself, with installation adding an additional $200 to $500. Overall, the total cost for replacement can range from $500 to $1,100, depending on factors such as the fan model, home size, and local labor rates. If the fan is part of a larger radon mitigation system, the price may be higher.

The lifespan of a radon mitigation system depends on the type of system and its maintenance. With proper care, a system can last for many decades. Passive systems tend to last longer as they have fewer components that require replacement. Active systems, which have more moving parts like fans, generally have a shorter lifespan. For instance, water filtration devices and active pressurization systems require more frequent maintenance. While the system as a whole is durable, the radon fan in an active system typically has a lifespan of 5 to 10 years and will need to be replaced. As long as the fan is working, the mitigation system should function correctly.

Radon is the number one non-smoking cause of lung cancer in the United States, but it can cause some other concerning side effects in the meantime. If you have a raspy voice, chest pains, trouble breathing, difficulty swallowing, or any of the above, don’t hesitate to perform radon testing and install a mitigation system as soon as possible.
