"JC Radon Solutions did a great job in the installation of our radon mitigation system. They arrived at the agreed time for both the proposal visit and then for the install work. The work area was kept clean during the install. A great job by a great company. I highly recommend JC Radon Solutions for radon mitigation work. Prior to the mitigation work, radon monitoring recorded average readings of 10. Now the readings are 3.5. Very pleased with the JC Radon Solutions system."

Customers say: Quality work

"We were very happy with the crew who worked in our home. Very professional. Prepared the site so we could not tell they had even been in our home. Testing following the job indicated that the radon gas was leaving our home. Our radon level went from 12 to 0."

"Provided a thorough quote. Told me how to get levels below 4.0 as well as 2.7 which is recommended by world health. Ended up going with 2 points of suction. One in basement floor and the other under the garage floor. 2 techs were sent and the job took about 5 hours. They sealed floors and put a new cover on my sump. Tried to keep the area clean as possible. I swept and mopped after to collect any leftover shavings. Only thing I wasn’t happy about was them walking around the house with shoes on, but I understand as they’re drilling and climbing ladders outside. Would’ve been nice if they removed shoes before using my restroom. Both techs were very nice to deal with and took the time at the end of the job to explain everything in detail."

"Schan did a great job, very professional. He came out to see what the job was before he gave me a quote. I have a huge crawl space which took some time but he stuck with it to finish it in one day. Now I can breathe easier knowing it's taking care of right. I highly recommend Clean Air Radon Systems."

"I consulted with Radon Doctor about my home. The four foot high basement had 5 pci in a 48 hour test. The first living floor was 1.5 pci in the same test. Radon Doctor advised me to monitor radon levels on the living floor over 6 months during winter season and get back to them for mitigation if needed. They did not take advantage of a single basement reading to insist I install a system that would not affect the living floor levels. These guys are legit."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

No, air purifiers are not an effective way to reduce or remove radon. Radon is a radioactive, inert gas that cannot be filtered by standard air purifiers, which are designed to capture particulates like dust and mold. While an air purifier can improve indoor air quality by removing other pollutants, it should not be relied upon for radon. The only effective solution for high radon levels is a dedicated radon mitigation system.

The natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water can cause radon to appear in a home. The gas seeps into homes through cracks in foundations, walls, or floors, as well as through gaps around pipes or construction joints. Radon levels are influenced by soil composition, building materials, and ventilation. Poorly sealed or airtight homes can trap radon, allowing it to accumulate.

A homeowner can install a radon mitigation system on their own. But it’s a challenging DIY that requires a lot of knowledge about radon mitigation as well as familiarity with local regulations. You do not want to risk an improper installation that leaves the system unable to detect radon or gives it a shortened life span. Relying on a professional is the surest way to guarantee a successful installation.

The fan that pulls the radon out of the air needs to run continuously, so you may see an increase in your electric bill once you install the mitigation system. Additionally, you may see an increase in your heating or cooling bills, as the fan can cause some loss of hot or cool air.

While DIY testing is possible, abatement generally requires professional installation to ensure efficacy and meet safety standards.
