"George came out promptly and did a thorough inspection of the crawlspace and provided options on what can be done. The insulation work was performed by Jesus who also found and fixed two foundation cracks. Encapsulation was done by Juan's team and they all did a great job. They were able to perform all the work with a very narrow opening into the crawlspace and were also able to fit in the dehumidifier. After installation there was a minor issue with the dehumidifier and Craig came right away to fix it. Great experience and I'd definitely use their services in the future if need be."

"It went fairly well. The man in charge of giving estimates gave me confidence. The man in charge of the work was a bit of a fast talker, however. I have waited over a year to finish this review b/c I wanted to wait until I got door into the porch from the house and for cold weather to see how well the insulation works. I do not have a heat vent on the porch. Was hoping the insulation along with a small electric heater would keep it warm. The contractor thought it would be okay without a heating vent. For most part it is, but with very cold weather, the porch gets pretty cold. I may have been hoping for more than was realistic and may eventually get a larger electric heater or get a vent from my furnace if I decide to use the room more regularly."

"I recently bought a home and moved in.  My crawlspace needed major work.  It was dark, damp and had a mildew like odor that you could smell in the entire house.  I had not planned on using that space for storage but when they were finished it was an incredible space for me to put all my seasonal items and then some.  When I called High Tech Waterproofing, Chuck came to inspect the area to see where the water was coming from.  It was a pleasant experience.  I didn't feel pressured by him and it was a free consultation.  The day of the job, the employees were punctual and professional.  I couldn't be happier with the results.  They leveled the soil and disposed of anything that was left from before.  The next crew came in to apply their polyurea coating encapsulation and the spray foam insulation.  The end result was amazing!  No plastic with tape or concrete that takes days to cure.  In and out so that I could go back to work and get back to unpacking and enjoying my new home.  They were fast and courteous.  I felt there was a true consideration of my home because they cleaned up after themselves.  I highly recommend this company!!

"Good communication up front to coordinate schedule with our needs.  Crew arrived for tear-off as agreed.  Tearoff proceeded quickly and crew was careful to protect house and shrubbery from construction debris.  Tearoff and installation of new felt and ice shield was completed in less than 1.5 days.  Roof and flashing was complete in about 3 days.  This was for a large 2 section roof (approx 35sq).Gutters, downspouts, and leaf proof caps were installed next by a single (highly skilled) installer.  I was amazed at his ability to work solo on a high roof (3 levels in places) and get done so quickly and professionally.  Approx 3 days.Siding was replaced separate from the roof and was uneventful.  The same craftsman that did the gutters was highly skilled and professional at siding as well. He worked with me to get the wood siding stained to match existing siding prior to installation (very appreciated) .  Results were excellent and replaced siding blends well. The window was installed a few weeks later (lead time from the factory).  The owner himself lead the 3 man installation team (some of which were being trained).  This work took more than half a day.  The installation was neat and a had professional installation result.Overall a wonderful experience.  I would highly recommend GF Siding and will use them again when I have the need.Thank you Ariel and team for a job well done and a great overall experience.
Price was not the lowest, but very competitive and definitely a good value.

"Albar was great Brett did a wonderful job of explaining their product lines and discussing with us which product would likely best fit our needs. Never did we feel any pressure to purchase windows from them. Installers were efficient and left the area exceptionally clean. After install we discovered that the large picture window had a defect in it. Brett came out to the house, contacted the manufacturer and secured us a new window. It was quite refreshing to work with a company who seems to exemplify high standards and professionalism.

"Our condo building was overdue for regular maintenance. We were in need of tuckpointing and sealing of all stone as well as addressing vulnerabilities in our windows and ledges. Hansen Brothers gave a fair estimate and we were able to add on to the project to include sealing the decks, painting the hallways, and restoring our outdoor water source. Bob's team did a great job and we have not had any issues with water since. I have since used them to patch and paint the interior of my condo with much success. Bob is personable and follows up on all work performed, I will continue to use him in the future."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

A plastic vapor barrier should completely cover your basement to prevent water from penetrating through the walls. This typically goes before installing insulation to prevent moisture from building up and becoming trapped on the inside of your insulation, where it can collect and lead to mold damage. Installing insulation after the vapor barrier allows for any moisture to exit the walls for better ventilation.

Energy-efficient homes generally have higher appraisals and appeal to buyers.

Yes, it is possible to have too much insulation, which can have detrimental effects. While more insulation might seem better for energy efficiency, a home needs to "breathe" or ventilate to release moisture that accumulates inside. Over-insulating can seal a house too tightly, trapping water vapor and leading to several problems, including mold, mildew, and condensation. Homes in warm, humid climates are particularly susceptible to mold, while those in colder climates can experience condensation from temperature fluctuations. Additionally, adding more insulation than the recommended amount for your climate may not provide recoverable energy savings. To avoid these issues, consult a professional insulation contractor who can determine the optimal amount of insulation for your home.

Your home's location, budget, and the type of insulation you’re using are just a few of the factors that can help you choose the right insulation. For example, blown-in insulation is typically used in attic spaces, while batts and rolls are ideal for floors and walls. Blown-in insulation is usually a good option if you're adding more insulation to an area that already has some, but not enough.

Pipes in your house can freeze after six hours or so if you lose power and temperatures are below freezing. You can prepare for potential power outages by winterizing your pipes with insulation. Also, whenever temperatures drop below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, turn your faucets on very low and leave them dripping until temperatures rise.
