"Excellent, timely, and knowledgeale service. I had them come to clean the air ducts, but they were able to comprehensively answer some other questions I had about my HVAC situation. I am going to use them from now on for my HVAC needs. Recommend!"

"I had a great experience with their HVAC services. They repaired my electrical baseboard heater quickly and made sure everything was working perfectly before leaving. The team was professional, punctual, and very knowledgeable. They also installed our new central A/C system smoothly with no issues at all. Communication was clear throughout the process, and the pricing was fair. Highly satisfied with the quality of work and customer service. I would definitely recommend them for any heating or cooling needs."

"Sam did an outstanding job of explaining the work to be completed, in addition to being prompt and friendly with his service. We're a Lifeclub member, and highly recommend this peace-of-mind "insurance" for the annual HVAC and plumbing inspections plus discounts on work, and Lifeline in general!"

"The employees were polite and friendly. They did their job well and efficiently. My only regret is that they did not show us a before and after video of our vents like they did the last time they were here (four years ago). I would recommend that people specifically ask for this service. I would also recommend that customers follow them around to make sure they do not miss any vents since the home owners know their house better than the technicians do."

"I needed a new HVAC. I received a prompt bid at an extremely favorable price. The technicians who installed my new unit were extremely knowledgeable and personable! They finished the job in one day, even though they had estimated it would take two whole days. They cleaned up after themselves in a marvelous way."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

If left untreated, a frozen AC unit can lead to costly damage, especially to the compressor and evaporator coils. When ice forms on the evaporator coils, they become brittle and more susceptible to breaking. Plus, a freeze makes your AC system much less efficient, which means it's wasting energy and costing you more in your monthly energy bills.

You should know the main components of an air conditioner: the condenser coils, evaporator coils, drip pan, AC filter, ducts, and refrigerant. Each part plays a key role in the performance and safety of your AC system. When tracking the source of AC issues or odors, it helps to know where to look. Your outdoor unit houses your condenser coils, fan, and compressor. Your indoor unit houses your evaporator coils, drain lines, and filter, and it connects to your ductwork.

In most cases, you should hire a professional to carry out services on your HVAC system, as the components are complicated, expensive, and potentially dangerous to work with. However, there are a few things you can do on your own to keep your HVAC system in good condition, including changing your filters every three months, keeping the area around your outdoor condenser clear of debris and plant growth, making sure your or intakes aren’t blocked, and keeping an eye out for increased energy bills, strange noises, and unusual odors related to your equipment.

Yes, ventless portable air conditioners exist, and not all standard portable air conditioners must be vented through a window.

Ventless portable units, often called evaporative coolers, do not have exhaust hoses. They use a water reservoir and a cooling pad to add moisture to the air, making it feel cooler. These units work best in dry climates because humid areas cannot absorb much additional moisture.

For standard portable air conditioners that do require venting, a window is not the only option; they can also be vented through a door, wall, or ceiling. However, it is essential to vent these units properly. Running a standard portable AC without venting it is counterproductive because it needs to expel heat to cool the room. Failing to do so will only increase the room's temperature.

You should get anywhere from three to five quotes for HVAC replacement to get an idea of the average cost of a new unit. Although this quote-collecting process can be time consuming, it allows you to compare what work is required, what type of unit you should install, and how much you should expect to pay for the service.
