"It went extremely well. I got an excellent estimate and they came in under that. The workers were professional, thoughtful of the property, and at the end, you would not have known they were there. My property was immaculate. I would hire them again in a heartbeat."

"If you are looking for a quality roof, siding and gutter contractor, this is who you'll want to call first! Chuck was very knowledgeable in helping me to deal with the whole insurance claim process. He took pictures from the rooftop to show me the damage, which I was able to forward to my agent. He was very good with customer service. He had a crew that worked very efficiently to finish the job on time. They were courteous and respectful. They cleaned everything up when they were finished. They used high quality materials. My roof went from the worst on the block to the best on the block. My neighbor was so impressed with the work, that she hired the M Construction to replace her roof. Hers looks great too! Other contractors just wanted to get the eagle view of the property to see how much the job was worth and try to set up an appointment with the adjuster. Some wouldn't even go up on the rooftop to view the damage. If you want a full-service contractor, that cares about his customers, this one is definitely a good one! I am very happy that my roof was done right, worked within the insurance claim budget, and looks great!"

Siding questions, answered by experts

This is a tricky answer because how fast you work, how large your team is, and what type of siding you install will all determine your total time. One person placing bricks around an entire house can take weeks, but a team of 10 could complete the job in just a few days. Installing siding is a job that’s best done by a pro, as they are experienced and will perform solid work. A rough guideline for DIYers is to budget 15 minutes per square foot of siding.

There should be small gaps between your roof and the walls of your home, and other buildings. These small gaps let building materials shift, expand, and contract with weather and other outside forces, and they prevent moisture from wicking down walls from roofing and gutter systems. Without these strategic gaps, your home’s exterior and its finishes can sustain water damage, decay, peel, delaminate, and crack. However, there is a fine line between a smart gap and a problematic gap—all  gaps should be small, intentional, and covered or filled in with foam insulation to prevent pests from using them as access points.

Yes, clapboard siding generally costs more compared to vinyl. The average cost for vinyl siding is between $2 and $7 per square foot. Meanwhile, clapboard siding costs $4 to $20 per square foot.

Before applying paint to exterior surfaces, filling any cracks or gaps with caulk is essential. Sealing them with a combination of caulk and paint prevents moisture from damaging the paint or decaying the underlying material. You want to ensure the caulk you purchase can be painted over or that you opt for a caulk the same color as the paint.

Wood siding requires an air gap behind it to allow water to drain out, and for air circulation and venting to allow humid air to escape and keep the material from rotting due to moisture.
