"Thomas did an excellent job in restoring the interior of my garage. Taking down cabinets, retaping and repatching drywall that had been neglected for 20 plus years. Finished by applying two coats of paint. Price was very reasonable. Very professional."

Customers say: Terrific value

"I am thrilled with the work DTI (Ed) did for me. He was prompt; gave me fair prices and did a lot of different things on my old house in short order. He fixed one toiled and replaced two others; installed a new disposal unit (and added a switch for it) and a new kitchen faucet; and replaced three a total of four faucets in the basement / laundry areas. Rarely was a project just as I'd explained it so his willingness to make changes to meet the realities was most welcome. Every work area was left better than when he started and all old material and trash was removed. He is a cheerful fellow who I enjoyed chatting with and my dog loves him (and he was really nice to her). I couldn't be more pleased!"

"My husband and I were looking to get some drywall repair projects done ASAP. Chris was able to come by within a few hours of my request on Home Advisor to give us a quote, which was very reasonable. The next day him and his crew began the project. The crew was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The drywall repairs look awesome! The best part was they took the time to thoroughly clean up after their projects! I am glad I found Caldwell Remodeling and will certainly use them in the future and recommend them to friends and family."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You may need to replace drywall because of smoke damage. If the drywall is covered in soot, you may be able to clean it, but it will require a lot of time and effort. You could spend hours cleaning the drywall only to find there is more damage and it needs to be replaced anyway. It’s usually easier and safer to remove the smoke-damaged drywall and replace it.

Yes, it is possible to rewire a house without removing the drywall, but this doesn’t work in all homes. You can pull out old wires and insert new ones if you have access to the wiring system via the ceiling or through a crawl space. Some pros can also use a magnetic kit to fish the old wire out of the wall through a hole cavity and install the new wires. Just keep in mind that doing this is less stable than removing drywall, as you won’t be able to staple the wires into the framing.

Only use spackle on plaster walls when the imperfection is small. It’s best used for nail holes or small dings in the plaster. Spackle dries quickly, allowing you to continue the repair process shortly after using it. Plaster can be tricky to repair, though, so if you run into issues, call a pro so that you don’t risk further damage.

Costs depend on labor, material quality, wall preparation, and finishing requirements.

It’s highly recommended to use studs for a TV mount. The last thing you want is to be watching your favorite show when the TV falls off the wall. Studs are much stronger than drywall and quite a bit stronger than drywall anchors but, if you can’t find the studs or there simply aren’t any where you need them, you can use drywall anchors. It’s extremely important to make sure the anchors are rated for the load of the TV. We recommend using anchors that are rated far beyond the weight of whatever you’re hanging. Our suggestion is metal drywall toggle anchors.
