After finally connecting with another contractor, negotiating and renegotiating our contract, and getting all the required permits, that contractor backed out of the project in mid-October. Our engineer put us in touch with Daniel who promptly assessed the project, quoted a fair price, fit us into his schedule, and completed our project on budget – all by mid-November. Daniel knows his stuff and was very easy to work with. After the dust cleared and the final check was cashed, we realized that our driveway took a beating over the course of the project. We probably should have anticipated this given all the heavy material and equipment involved. We got an independent estimate to make the driveway repairs, and Daniel promptly sent a check so that we can take care of repairs in the spring. The patio and sidewalk were sloping down about 45 degrees towards my basement after the polar vortex. They removed all of the concrete , raised the dirt, and poured in new concrete. My backyard desperately needed redoing. About 1/3 of it was always flooded after heavy rains. John and his men built a retaining wall on the end of the property to help correct this problem.
