"Our initial contact with Jeff in October 2014 was nice. He came promptly to give us an estimate on the work. He suggested a Trex Deck with a cheaper alternative of using a stained wood railing. I inquired whether it would be possible to finish in December as it was predicted to be very cold. He said it would not be a problem as they would come on Thanks Giving to dig the holes for the footing and after that they could build the deck as long as it was not very cold or snowing. Of course it was cold and it took longer than expected for the concrete to cure. Cutting the story short it wasn't until January or February that they could actually start working on the Deck. They finished it in March and left a very big muddy mess behind. My daughter and my wife had to clean it up on the cold weather and they both wanted to cry from the muddy mess. They did not pick up after themselves and left the white stained railing dirty and fading. When we contacted him he said they were not painters. However, he charged us extra for the painting that was outsourced. In April of 2015 I called the Village for the final inspection. Of course we did not pass. There was a very long list of things that did not pass. The most important one was the height of the railing. The village requires 42in and ours is 36in. When I brought this to Jeff's attention he started yelling on the phone saying that he would not change it to 36 in. He said he never heard of it and that most of the villages only require 36in. However, our next door neighbor has a 42in railing. After he calmed down he proposed to put a 2x6 on top of our railing, call the inspector, and then take the 2x6 down. I wrote on an e-mail that I was not happy with the solution. He called me in May to say he was going to do the job. I told him that I wanted the 42 in railing and not the 2x6 on top of the railing to take it down later. Once again he started yelling and telling me that he would not do it. I told him that if we would not do it I did not want him to complete the job. After he calmed down again he agreed to do it, but he would only do it in the Fall when business was a little calmer. I agreed to that. on Nov. 10 I called his phone, when I identified myself he said he could not hear me and hung up. Giving him the benefit of the doubt I called from my work phone. He did not pick up. I left a voice message inquiring when he was coming over to finish the job. After that I wrote an e-mail. As of today (Nov. 17) I have not heard back from him. I believe I gave him plenty of time to correct his mistakes. Given that I did not get a response I am writing this review that I believe to be a fair assessment of what took place.
